New Delhi: The aspirants of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 examination are upset with the National Medical Commission's (NMC) decision to prepone the exam date from 7th July to 23rd June. Taking to social media platforms, the aspirants have started questioning the logic behind such a decision taken by the authorities, while some of the users and experts have expressed their concern about the impact of preponement on the students preparing for the exam.

The schedule for NEET PG 2024 has been changed a couple of times since last year. Earlier, releasing the tentative schedule of exams, NBE had last year announced that the NEET PG 2024 will tentatively be conducted on 3rd March 2024. Thereafter, media reports started speculating that the exam would be held in the first week of July.

Confirming such speculations, NBE, the authority in charge of conducting the exam then announced that NEET PG 2024 would be conducted on July 07, 2024, and the cut-off date for eligibility to appear in the NEET-PG 2024 shall be 15th August 2024.

However, now preponing the exam, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has declared that the NEET PG 2024 exam would be held on June 23, 2024. On the cut-off date for eligibility to appear in the NEET PG 2024, the NMC stated, "It has also been decided that the cut off date for completion of internship to become eligible for NEET PG-2024 is 15th Aug 2024."

Criticizing the authorities regarding the process of conducting the exam, an X user mentioned in a post, "Even a primary school will conduct exams properly but not NBEMS."

Expressing concern over the decision of preponement, an MBBS student and member of IMA MSN posted on X (formerly Twitter), "#NMC took survey of students and kept the #NEETPG2024 exam in July to accomodate more students. Students were also happy after this decision. But now exam rescheduled to June and students are again disturbed Why they do all this?"

"The #NMC initially scheduled the #NEETPG2024 exam in July to accommodate more students, a decision we endorsed. This brought relief to students. However, the sudden rescheduling to June caused distress among students leaving us puzzled about reasons behind these frequent changes," All India Students Dental Association mentioned in an X post.

Further condemning the authorities for not considering the problems faced by the aspirants, a medico mentioned in an X post, "TBH, They consider this as a game, They'll never know what students are going through. They are getting cursed by lots of students. #neetpg2024 #neetpg #Medtwitter."

Referring to the news, a doctor, practicing psychiatry, posted on X, "Have the officials ever prepared for any entrance exam? If they have, don't they realise how unsettling this postponement/preponement is for the students? This is really irresponsible by NMC!!"

In a video message addressing the aspirants, the doctor further said, "NMC has come up with a new way to harass everyone. And this time they have gone ahead and preponed the exam... I can't remember even of one incidence when the exams have been preponed. So, this is new. And every year we are going into uncharted territories. More ridiculous things are being done."

Another surgeon and exam strategist mentioned in an X post, "Preponing the exam is worse than postponing it ! Policy makers might not care about it, but it impacts the futures of thousands of doctors ! #NEETPG" In another post, the doctor added, "In the history of the world, No one has abused the word “tentative” more than NMC/NBE."

Meanwhile, referring to the new schedule, Health Activist Dr. Dhruv Chauhan mentioned in a post, "NMC is just unpredictable just like the future of doctors."
