New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced its decision to reopen the portal for online submission of data regarding postgraduate medical admission for the academic year 2023-2024.

Setting a deadline for the same till December 07, 2023, the Commission has directed all the medical colleges/institutes across the country to fill in the requisite data within the stipulated time.

However, the PG Board of NMC has clarified that "No physical/manual data will be accepted whatsoever is the reason."  The portal shall remain open from December 04, 2023, to December 07, 2023.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that all the medical colleges and PG medical institutes had been directed by NMC to submit the details of all the students admitted to the postgraduate medical courses during the academic year 2023-2024 by October 28, 2023. Previously, the deadline had been set considering that the last date for admission to the PG Broad Specialty course was October 25, 2023.

NMC asked the medical colleges to submit the requisite information through an online system that can be accessed through the NMC website (http://www/nmc.org.in).

However, considering the huge number of vacant seats, Union Health decided to conduct a Special Stray Vacancy Round to prevent the wastage of precious medical seats.

Accordingly, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the schedule for the same. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that as per the MCC schedule, the central counselling process began on on 17th November 2023 and the results were to be published on November 24. On the other hand, the State Counselling was set to commence from November 15, 2023 and the last date to join both the counselling processes was set to be November 30, 2023.

Considering the changed schedule, the NMC has now decided to reopen its portal for submission of PG medical admission information online. Issuing a public notice in this regard, the PG Board of NMC mentioned, "After completion of the special stray round conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), DGHS and State Counselling Agencies for filling up the vacant seats of PG Broad Specialty courses, new candidates have been admitted in various medical colleges throughout India."

"Subsequently, all Medical Colleges/Institutes in India are hereby informed that the online portal for filling up the details of candidates who took admission in PG Broad Specialty courses shall be reopened from 4th to 7th December, 2023," it further mentioned.

"All are requested to fill in the requisite data in the stipulated time," the Commission added while clarifying that physical or manual data will not be accepted.
