Tamil Nadu: The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME), Tamil Nadu, has released the tentative Round III counselling schedule for admission to Postgraduate Degree and Diploma courses for the 2025-2026 academic session.

The counselling will be conducted for seats in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges, Government and Management quota seats (including Minority and NRI) in Self-Financing Medical Colleges, and 20% and 50% quota seats of Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

According to the notification issued by the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee in this regard, the online registration and payment window for Mop-Up Round counselling is going to close tomorrow i.e. to 5:00 PM on February 11, 2026. Eligible candidates under the Government Quota and Management Quota with NEET PG scores can participate in this round.

As per the schedule, the choice filling and locking process will commence on February 12, 2026. Following this, the processing of Seat Allotment will take place on February 15, 2026 and then on February 16, 2026, the result will be declared. Along with this, candidates can start downloading the Provisional Allotment Order from February 16. Below is the detailed schedule-

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1 Candidates who are participating in this counselling should abide by the rules of this round of counselling.

2 Candidates who are participating in the online choice filling for PG Degree/Diploma Courses will have to remit a non-refundable Registration Fee of Rs 1000/- for Government Quota and Rs.1000/- for Management Quota.

3 At the time of registration, the candidate will have to pay a Refundable Security Deposit (If already paid, need not pay again) for the Government Quota:

For Government Medical Colleges – Rs 30,000/-

For Government Quota seats in Self-Financing Medical College – Rs 1,00, 000/-

4 At the time of registration, the candidate will have to pay a Refundable Security Deposit (If already paid, need not pay again) for the Management Quota:

For Management Quota including Minority/ NRI Category seats in Self-Financing Medical Colleges - Rs 2,00, 000/-.

UPGRADATION IN MOP-UP ROUND 3

1 Candidates holding Round 1 / Round 2 seats who have not resigned can go for Up-gradation in Mop-Up Round (Round 3).

2 Candidates of Round 1 / Round 2 who were allotted a seat and did not join can participate in the Mop-up Round (Round 3).

3 The candidates who wish to retain the college taken in the first & second round of online counselling need not participate in the Mop-Up Round (Round -3) of counselling.

CHOICE FILLING

Candidates will have the option of choosing filling for all the seats for which they have applied. For example, if a candidate has applied for both the Government and management quota, he will have choices for both the Government as well as Management quota. The candidates are encouraged to analyse all the choices available and fill in their choices in order of their preference.

Candidates can edit their choices any number of times before locking, but once locked, they will not be allowed to edit. Hence, candidates are requested to check their choices and the order of preference before locking.

If the candidate does not lock his/her choices till the last date (14 February 2026, 03:00 PM), their choices will be automatically locked. All candidates should read the Prospectus thoroughly before starting choice filling. Candidates should be careful while choice filling.

VIRTUAL VACANCIES

Any Candidate who has been allotted a seat in Round 1 / Round 2 and has opted for upgradation in Mop up (Round 3), that allotted seat of Round 1 / Round 2 will be shown as virtual vacancy in Mop up (Round 3), any Candidates can choice lock for the said seat (virtual seat) during the choice filling in Mop up (Round 3). However, such a seat will be allotted in Mop-up (Round 3) only if the allotted candidate of Round 1 / Round 2 vacates that seat. Thus, that virtual vacancy becomes a real vacancy and it is open to all in the order of merit.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING ALLOTMENT ORDER:

1 The freshly allotted candidates have to pay the Tuition Fee for downloading the Provisional allotment order through online via Debit Card / Credit Card/ Net Banking.

2 Fee structure is available on the official website of TN Health.

3 All candidates should make sure that sufficient funds are available in their bank account with an expanded credit limit while remitting their Tuition Fee.

4 The re-allotted candidates who have already paid the tuition fee in the Round 1 & Round 2 of online counselling will have to pay the difference (if any) only.

5 The re-allotted/allotted candidates should download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the concerned Medical College/Institution on or before the stipulated date and time as mentioned in the Provisional Allotment Order.

REPORTING TO THE ALLOTTED COLLEGE

1 The candidates should produce their original certificates in person at the time of joining their selected Colleges along with the scanned copy of their original certificates for verification.

2 If the candidates do not report to the Head of the Institution to which you are allotted on or before the time and date specified, your selection and/or admission will be cancelled without any further notice.

3 The Candidate selected for admission should give a self-declaration form at the time of reporting to the concerned College that he/she is liable for forfeiture of selection/admission if suppression of facts, mis-interpretation is found at any time during or after the admission to the course.

Along with this, DME Tamil Nadu has released the tentative vacancy position for Postgraduate (PG) Degree and Diploma medical courses for the 2025-2026 academic session. The vacancy list, published by the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee, includes seats available across Government Medical Colleges, Self-Financing Medical Colleges, and Private Medical Colleges in the state.

The notification provides a detailed speciality-wise, college-wise, and quota-wise breakup of vacant seats under Government Quota, Management Quota, Minority Quota, NRI Quota, and Service Quota, following the completion of earlier counselling rounds. As per the tentative vacancy position list, a total of 1285 seats are vacant for PG Degree and Diploma medical courses for the 2025 academic session. Of these, a total of 163 seats are vacant in private medical colleges, a total of 663 seats are vacant in self-financing medical colleges and a total of 459 seats are vacant in Government medical colleges.
