117 Multi-Disciplinary Research Units in Govt Medical Colleges: MoS Health
New Delhi: India has altogether 117 Multi-Disciplinary Research Units (MDRUs) in the Government Medical Colleges, the Union Minister of State for Health Shri Prataprao Jadhav recently informed the Lok Sabha.
Further, the Union MoS Health clarified that the research subjects covered under an MDRU are decided by the concerned Research Unit. The data revealed that Rajasthan has the highest (12) number of MDRUs, followed by Uttar Pradesh (11).
The information in this regard was provided by the Minister while responding to a series of questions raised by Parliament member Dr Manna Lal Rawat. Dr. Rawat sought to know whether the Government proposed to promote multidisciplinary research in Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals in the Country, the details of such research units set up so far in the country, medical colleges and State/UT and district-wise including Rajasthan, and the details of the subjects covered under multidisciplinary research in RNT Medical College in Udaipur.
As per the data shared by the Union MoS Health, among the 117 MDRUs, there are 4 MDRUs in Andhra Pradesh, 1 research unit in Andhra Pradesh, 7 research units, 1 unit in Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Mizoram, and Nagaland each, 4 units in Delhi (NCT), 2 units in Gujarat, 3 units each in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Jharkhand, 8 units in Karnataka, 4 units each in Kerala and Maharashtra, 7 units in Madhya Pradesh, 2 units in Manipur, 5 units in Odisha, 3 units in Punjab, 12 units in Rajasthan, 9 units in Tamil Nadu, 7 units in Telangana, 1 unit in Tripura, 11 units in Uttar Pradesh, and 5 units in West Bengal.
