The problem of shortage of doctors could be mitigated through the opening of new medical colleges. In addition, the scarcity of medical teachers will be addressed. These colleges are being established in partnership with the Indian government. It will cost Rs 325 crores to build the college. The Indian government will provide 60% of the total amount.
Last year the Government had already allotted an amount of Rs 1547.45 crore for the construction of these medical institutes. As per the data provided by the MoS Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar before the Lok Sabha, Madhya Pradesh presently has a total number of 23 medical colleges. Among these, 14 medical colleges are run by the Government and 9 medical colleges are run by private management.
