AIIMS Raipur holds its First Convocation, 850 MBBS, Nursing students awarded degrees
Raipur: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur conducted its First Convocation on Tuesday. Total 850 students from medical and nursing have been awarded their degrees. Chief Guest Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar urged pass-out medical students to work to uplift society with their dedicated services.
Dr. Pawar also inaugurated Dental OPD with state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated Auditorium for the nation.

While addressing graduating students of MBBS and BSc (Nursing), Dr. Pawar said that all students are entering their new life phase. 'Now, it's time to pass on the knowledge you gained during your education to society. Society considered doctors next to god. You all should maintain the faith of the society with the novelty of the profession, she said.
Dr. Pawar Informed that 665 medical colleges are presently functioning in the country compared to 387 in the Year 2014. 'MBBS seats have been increased by 95%, and PG seats have been increased by 110% since 2014. The central government is working in mission mode to provide quality health care services to all, she added.
Dr. Pawar praised the enormous growth within a short span of 10 years by AIIMS Raipur and the dedicated patient care initiatives taken by AIIMS Raipur under the leadership of Director Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar and other faculty members. 'The Institute is setting up an innovation center for medical technology along with IIT Bhilai. Both Institutes are also collaborating for AIIMS-IIT Knowledge Innovation Cluster. These initiatives give benefits to society, she said.
Earlier, President Prof. George A D'souza congratulated the dedicated efforts of faculty members and hoped that the Institute would soon provide more super specialty services to patients. Director Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar presented the Institute's progress report. Prof. Nagarkar said that within ten years of its establishment, AIIMS-R has become a hub for research. A total of 425 medical graduates from five batches (2012 to 2016 Batches), 292 students from B.Sc. (Nursing) (2013-17 Batches), 120 MD/MS/MDS students, 8 M.Sc. (Nursing) students and five Master of Public Health students have been awarded degrees in the First Convocation.
Dr. Pawar, Prof. D'Souza, Prof. Nagarkar, Member of Parliament Sunil Soni, Saroj Pandey and Arun Sao felicitated gold medalists in the Convocation Ceremony. Dr. Pawar also visited Jan Aushadhi Kendra and interacted with patients and beneficiaries. She also inaugurated Dental OPD with state-of-the-art facilities.
