Bihar to revive all closed Ayurveda colleges: CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the state government has decided to revive all closed Ayurvedic colleges in Bihar.

Mr Kumar while inaugurating the three day 'Ayurvedic Conference 'in Rajgir, said that the state government was committed to promote Ayurveda, the most ancient therapy for the treatment of patients. State government has decided to revive all closed Ayurvedic colleges in Bihar and all attempts were being made in this direction, he added.

"I visited Patna Ayurveda College on November 22 which was established in the year 1926 and personally took account of its condition", the Chief Minister said adding that after assessing its condition, the state government had decided for its expansion and modernisation. Government Tibbi college was located near Government Ayurvedic College in Patna, he said adding that a foot overbridge would be constructed connecting both the instructions to avoid traffic congestion on road between them, he added.

Mr Kumar said that a plot of 10 acres would be provided for construction of a new building of government Tibbi College near the campus of Nalanda Medical College Hospital in Patna. The new building would be constructed for its shifting in two years, he added.

Chief Minister said that state cabinet had sanctioned fund of Rs 838 Crores for expansion and development of government Rai Bahadur Tunki Sahab Homeopathic Medical College in Muzaffarpur, Matarani Rameshwari Indian Medical Science Institute, Darbhanga, Government Ayodhya Shivkumari Ayurved College and Hospital Begusarai. The government would also renovate Government Ayurvedic College in Bhagalpur, he added.

Mr Kumar said that there were many medicinal plants used for manufacturing Ayurvedic medicines on Panchparvat in Ayodhya. Arrangements should be made for its protection and proper utilization, he added.

The Chief Minister said the institutes for treatment through naturopathy had been established in Bhagalpur of Bihar after similar institutions came up in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. He was in favour of setting up such an institute in Rajgir as well, he added.
