Dayanand Medical College Doctors Felicitated for Fight Against COVID-19
Ludhiana: Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, chairman of the Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB), honoured several doctors from the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for their dedicated service in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, on Saturday, 30th October 2021.
According to Bindra, the Punjab Youth Development Board recognised the endeavour and courage of these doctors and their teams in battle against the deadly disease. He further stated that the fortitude displayed by them was a great example for the people. The war against the deadly virus was most difficult as the enemy was invisible.
Additionally, he told media persons from The Tribune India, "All doctors exhibited exemplary courage and determination during the fight against Covid. As a result, several precious lives were saved. Covid warriors were the real heroes, who remained at the forefront during the pandemic, risking their own lives."
Also present during the ceremony were DMCH Secretary Prem Gupta, Dr Sandeep Puri, Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Bishav Mohan and several other doctors who were honoured during the event.
Dayanand Medical College and Hospital is a tertiary care teaching hospital in Ludhiana in North India. It offers MBBS, MD/MS postgraduate, PG diploma courses and super-specialties. The National Institutional Ranking Framework ranked the institute 24 in the medical category in 2020. The institute was ranked 26 among medical colleges in India in 2020 by India Today. It is also the first and only institution in India that offers a unique technique of external fixators perfected by Professor Oganesyan from Russia.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical fraternity found itself understaffed and overworked. Hospitals like DMCH held up the fort and provided healthcare to the masses and the ceremony was a small tribute to the frontline workers for their efforts.
