Kolkata: Based on the complaint of a 26-year-old medical intern, an FIR has been filed against three of her seniors at a government medical college, here for allegedly making sexual remarks and molesting her at the workplace.

According to the victim, the seniors made sexual remarks about her and molested her by touching her inappropriately. When the situation became worse, the intern decided to inform the police about the harassment.

A complaint was lodged against the seniors based on the victim's statement following which the police registered an FIR Section 354 (use of assault or criminal force upon a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 509 (criminalizes the use of words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and Section 354 A (making sexually coloured remarks, shall be guilty of the offence of sexual harassment) of IPC.

“An inquiry has been started. We will take feedback from the college before taking any action,” said an officer at Lalbazar.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the case has started with the cooperation of the principal of the college.
