'Forced to lick shoes, beaten, death threats' Kasturba Medical College Maharajganj students booked for allegedly ragging MBBS juniors

Maharajganj: In a horrific ragging incident, two first-year MBBS students at Kasturba Medical College, Maharajganj, alleged brutal assault by their second-year seniors on campus.

On their complaint, the accused Seven senior students have been booked in connection with the case. 

According to the First Information Report (FIR) accessed by Medical Dialogues, the accused seniors allegedly kicked the juniors, punched them and beat them with belts and iron rods. They also reportedly forced the juniors to lick their shoes and threatened to kill them.

In addition to this, the seniors also allegedly verbally abused them and made derogatory remarks about their family members.

The incident reportedly occurred on January 19 at approximately 5 pm. As per the complaint, the seven accused seniors formed a group and targeted the juniors after they refused to participate in ragging. Following their refusal, the seniors allegedly assaulted them.

"They repeatedly beat us with kicks, punches, belts and iron rods, and also used filthy and abusive language against our mother and sister. When the college guards and teachers arrived and intervened, only then were we released. Before letting us go, they forced us to lick shoes and threatened to kill us, " said the complainants. 

After the assault, the students called the police. However, when the police arrived at the campus, the college administration allegedly did not allow them to meet the officers. The administration later admitted the injured students to a hospital.

"We informed our family members, who later brought us from the hospital to the police station," said one of the complainants. 

Based on their complaint, the Kotwali police have registered a case and booked the seven accused seniors under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 191(2), 115(2), 352 and 351(3). Further investigation is underway.

Sharing the incident on 'X', a doctor said, "Zero tolerance for ragging and violence in medical colleges. Strict, immediate action is non-negotiable."
