Jhansi Medical College MBBS student found dead in Hostel

Jhansi: In a tragic incident, a third-year MBBS student of Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Jhansi, recently passed away under mysterious circumstances. He was found dead on the ground floor after reportedly falling from the balcony of his second-floor hostel room. Police have not yet confirmed the cause of his death. 

The deceased was a 22-year-old student of the 2022 batch who had returned to the hostel from his home in Lucknow on Tuesday night and was found dead on Wednesday morning. Students and hostel staff believe his fall was an accident as initial findings suggest that he slipped from the second-floor balcony railing, which was wet due to morning rain.

The incident took place after the student was staying in a different room of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hostel on the Paramedical College campus. He was sharing the room with his fellow hostelmate that night since his room had a dysfunctional cooler.

The next day in the morning at around 8 am, he went to the balcony and fell approximately 25 feet to the ground. Due to the heavy impact, he sustained severe injuries and was bleeding heavily. He was immediately rushed to the medical college hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Following his death, the college authorities informed the police, who arrived at the spot with the forensic team. They investigated the scene and sent his body for a postmortem to get more clarification on the incident. 

Principal of the college, Dr Mayank Singh, told HT, "There are no signs of foul play so far, but the police are conducting a postmortem and examining other aspects as part of the investigation."

Meanwhile, one of the professors in the college stated that the student was a bright and dedicated student who had cleared the NEET exam on his first attempt and always led his class.

College sources said that he had recently recovered from a serious accident in Jhansi a few months ago and was regaining momentum in his academics, but unfortunately, he is gone now. 

His father is a doctor and alumnus of the 1985 batch of the same medical college, and his mother, a school teacher.
