Maharaja Institute of Medical Sciences 2nd-year MBBS student commits suicide
Vijayawada: Depressed over being unable to focus on his studies, a 24-year-old second-year medical student at Maharaja Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Nellimarla allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide before hanging himself from the ceiling in his hostel room.
TOI reported that the student was suffering from both peer pressure and extreme academic pressure which are believed to have triggered suicidal thoughts. Despite battling these thoughts for months, he felt overwhelmed and was unable to overcome the mental turmoil.

Preliminary investigation into the case revealed that he was facing difficulties in focusing on his studies due to which he reportedly failed in the second year exams. This caused him extreme mental and emotional distress as he also thought that he would become a failure since his classmates were progressing in their studies while he continued to struggle with his own.
