NMC Increases MBBS Seats at 2 Rajasthan-based Medical Colleges After HC Order

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has increased MBBS seats at two Rajasthan-based medical colleges after the Rajasthan High Court issued directions to the Commission, asking it to issue the Letter of Permission for the increased seats.
Accordingly, the Apex Medical Education Regulatory Body has increased the MBBS seats at JIET Medical College and Hospital, Jodhpur from 50 to 100 MBBS seats. Further, NMC has increased 100 MBBS seats at Pacific Medical College and Hospital, Bhilo ka Bedla, Udaipur.
However, the NMC and the Central Government have filed a Second Appeal before the Division Bench of the High Court challenging the order and the matter is currently pending before the HC, the Commission further clarified.

NMC informed the stakeholders about this through a recent notice dated 25.10.2024. The notice issued by NMC Secretary Dr. B Srinivas mentioned, "It is hereby informed that recently the Hon’ble High court of Jodhpur, in the above mentioned cases, have directed the Commission to issue Letter of Permission to the following medical colleges situated in the state of Rajasthan; a) JIET Medical college and Hospital, Jodhpur from 50 to 100 MBBS seats. b) Pacific Medical Science College and Hospital, Bhilo ka Bedla, Udaipur from 150 to 250 seats."
