Bhopal: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old junior doctor, pursuing PG in Gynaecology at Gandhi Medical College Bhopal allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday by taking overdose of anaesthesia and pain killer drugs through injection.

Her friends discovered her body inside her room in H-Block hostel of the medical college after she did not open her door. After getting the information, Koh-Fiza police rushed to the spot and registered a case in the matter.

Although a suicide note has been recovered and the deceased PG medico has apologised to her parents and friends citing her lack of strength as the reason for the suicide, police is investigating the matter to understand the actual reason.

DCP Riyaz Iqbal has informed FPJ that the deceased student Akanksha had written "Sorry Mummy Papa" on the suicide note. The DCP assured that the investigation was ongoing and further details would be revealed after getting the post-mortem reports.

Apart from the suicide note, police also found the injection and ampoules of anaesthesia and pain killer drugs in the room of the PG medico, who hailed from Gwalior.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, SHO Koh-e-Fiza vijay Sisodia has informed that on Wednesday morning the concerned PG medical student had allegedly informed her batchmates that she was feeling unwell and therefore she stayed inside her hostel room. During the day, she did not contact any of her friends. In the evening, when her friends went to inquire after her, she did not open the door and did not respond as well.

Concerned over this, her friends broke open the door with the help of hostel security to discover her lying in an unconscious state. Even though they immediately took the medico to hospital, she was declared as brought dead.

Immediately the police was informed and Koh-e-Fiza police along with FSL team rushed to the spot to conduct investigation. Speaking about the matter, SHO Sisodia further informed the daily that the police would record the statements of the family members, batchmates, friends and hostel inmates of the deceased medico to discover the actual reason behind her alleged suicide. Meanwhile, the police have also sealed the room of the deceased medico.

Free Press Journal adds that the medico was dealing with immense pressure from the administration and the medical staff. Further, it has been alleged that the medico slid into depression because of immense work pressure.

While commenting on the matter, the President of State Junior Doctor Association (JUDA), Dr. Amit Tandiya said that the student had joined the gynaecology branch at the medical college, where the doctors deal with immense pressure. Referring to the fact that some of the doctors are unable to cope with the work pressure, he further mentioned that even if the students wish to withdraw admission from their seat, they are not allowed to do so without paying Rs 30 lakh for leaving the seat. This also results in pressure for the students who are left with no option.
