PGIMER 38th Convocation: 1547 students receive degrees, 107 exceptional students awarded medals

Chandigarh: The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh recently held its 38th convocation ceremony wherein 1547 received their degrees and 107 exceptional students were awarded medals for their academic excellence.

The ceremony was graced by many distinguished guests including renowned medical professionals. Prof Vinod K Paul who is a member of NITI Aayog was the chief guest of the ceremony and Prof Jagat Ram who is the former director of PGIMER was the guest of honour

According to Indian Express, delivering his convocation address, Prof Paul said, “This convocation is not just a milestone; it is the first step towards a new journey of professional excellence. As you move forward, remember that your knowledge and skills are not just for yourself but for the service of humanity. Hold fast to the values instilled in you by this great institution.”

Prod Jagat Ram has reflected on the PGIMER’s remarkable journey. He mentioned that the college is as well as a symbol of excellence as a victim of its success. The overwhelming patient trust led to a record of outpatient and emergency services highlighting the vital role of PGIMER in the healthcare system.

This year the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh embraced ethnic wear as the official dress code for its 38th convocation. The faculty members and students were wearing traditional attire showcasing India’s reach culture. Each of the graduates was complemented by a customized stole with the PGIMER logo which symbolizes their achievements.

Prof. Vivek Lal, Director of PGI noted that PGI stands among the world’s top medical institutions, with over 25% of program directors in the US being PGI alumni. This statistic speaks volumes about their alma mater. A degree from PGI is not merely a certificate; it serves as proof that one can thrive in any environment.
