Puducherry: In a recent notice issued by the Puducherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the institution has announced the reduction of annual fee for PG Non-Clinical courses under the management quota for the upcoming academic year 2023-24. The decision to reduce fees comes after careful consideration by the Fee Committee and aims to make quality medical education more accessible.

The reduced annual tuition fee for PG Non-Clinical courses will now align with the Annual Tuition fee set for state government quota seats. According to the Fee Committee's decision, the annual tuition fee for PG Non-Clinical courses has been fixed at INR 6,55,000, with an additional INR 50,000 earmarked as development fees.

PIMS offers a total of 21 seats in PG Non-Clinical courses, with 10 seats falling under the management quota and 11 under the government quota. The fee reduction will specifically benefit candidates pursuing MD in Anatomy, MD Pharmacology, and MD Biochemistry, as there are two seats reserved for each of these disciplines under both management and state quotas.

For students enrolling in MD Physiology, MD Microbiology, and MD Community Medicine, there are a total of 4 seats available. Among these, two seats are reserved for the Management Quota, and two are allocated for the Government Quota.

MD Pathology, another sought-after specialization, offers a total of 3 seats. Out of these, one seat is designated for the Management Quota, while the remaining two seats fall under the Government Quota.

It's worth noting that this fee reduction for PG Non-Clinical seats is implemented without compromising PIMS' ongoing efforts to advocate for increased fees fixed by the Fee Committee for both government and management seats in clinical specialties. This approach is designed to uphold the quality of medical education at PIMS while also encouraging greater enrollment in non-clinical specialties, which have seen declining demand year after year.

Aspiring medical students are encouraged to take advantage of this fee reduction initiative and explore the diverse range of PG Non-Clinical courses offered by PIMS, securing a promising future in the field of medicine.
