Rajamahendravaram medical college to start functioning from this academic year with 150 MBBS seats
Kakinada: In accordance with the AP government's promise to establish five medical colleges in each district, the construction work of the Rajamahendravaram medical college is progressing rapidly and is set to start functioning with 150 MBBS seats from this 2023–24 academic year.
This comes with the announcement from Rajahmundry MP Margani Bharat Ram, who recently inspected the construction site and confirmed that the construction of the medical college is progressing rapidly with the most advanced technology in Rajahmundry.
The MP was accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation superintendent engineer S. Subrahmanyam and executive engineer K. Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy and others.
On Tuesday, Bharat Ram said the medical college will be ready by the end of coming April this year. It was approved by the state government to build the medical college on three acres of land with buildings that are G+1 stories high.
The medical college cum hospital will provide an opportunity for medical aspirants to shine and at the same time, it will be of great benefit to the people of East Godavari district, DC reports.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences on Tuesday gave its nod for commencing academic activities in five new medical colleges of the State from the next academic year 2023-24.
Therefore, medical colleges at Eluru, Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Nandyal and Machilipatnam districts of the State will commence the MBBS admission process in 150 MBBS seats each.
In order to ensure that the academic activities get started by the next year, the posts of Principals and superintendents have already been filled.
The government is setting up 16 new medical colleges at a total cost of Rs 7,880 crore and has initiated measures to fill more than 40,000 posts in government hospitals. Out of that, it released funds to construct buildings for five medical colleges at Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Eluru, Nandyala and Machilipatnam.
These new medical colleges will come up at Paderu, Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Rajahmundry, Palakollu, Amalapuram, Eluru, Machilipatnam, Bapatla, Markapuram, Piduguralla, Madanapalli, Pulivendula, Penukonda, Adoni and Nandyal.
