Medical Council catches forgery in FMG's documentation for internship, medico dismissed by college

Almora: In a routine verification process, the Uttarakhand Medical Council found that a trainee doctor from Haryana had allegedly used someone else's roll number in his paperwork, to secure an internship at Soban Singh Jeena Government Medical College in Almora.

In response, the college principal dismissed the trainee doctor on direction from the council and filed a complaint against him at the police station for the alleged forgery.

According to TOI, the accused doctor in his documents claimed that he completed his medical education at Russia's Mari State University. Therefore, he also claimed that he submitted documents showing he had passed the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE). The Screening Exam which is also known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) is a qualifying exam conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) in India. Indian students who completed MBBS abroad must clear the Exam for Foreign Medical Graduates to get a licence to practise in India. 

The incident came to light during a routine document verification by the Uttarakhand Medical Council. During the process, the council found that the doctor forged his documents by using the roll number of another person.

The discovery led the council to inform the college principal Dr C P Bhaisora to take action in this regard. Acting on this, the college dismissed him and filed a police complaint against him. 

"We have dismissed him from the college and filed a complaint with the police," said Bhaisora.

Almora SHO Jagdish Deopa, the investigating officer in the case told TOI, "A formal complaint was lodged on Thursday evening. An investigation is underway, and a case will be registered after initial inquiries are completed."
