KNRUHS Releases Statute For Affiliation To Start 12 Allied Health Sciences Degree Courses

Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has released the statute for affiliation to start the 12 Allied Health Sciences Degree Courses in affiliated medical college hospitals and other major hospitals this academic year.

The following are the courses –

1.BSc Anaesthesia Technology

2.BSc Operation Theatre Technology

3.BSc Cardiac and Cardio Vascular Technology

Government, after careful examination of the matter, hereby accords permission to Registrar, KNRUHS, Warangal, to start the above-stated (12) Allied Health Sciences Degree courses with 10 to 20 seats in each subject in an institution as per the eligibility under KNRUHS, Warangal in affiliated Medical College hospitals and other major hospitals with 300-bed strength or above having Super specialty/ Specialty departments offering recognized DM/MCh/ MD/MS/DNB courses from this academic year.

KNRUHS has directed the Medical institutions to apply for an essentiality certificate (NOC) from State Government and to the University for affiliation to start these courses. The institutions must apply with NOC to the KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal, to start 1st year of Bachelor of Science in these courses of study for affiliation of their institution with KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal.

Medical College Hospitals and other major Hospitals with 300 beds strength or above having Super Specialty/Specialty departments offering recognized DM/M.Ch./MD /MS/ DNB courses that satisfy the conditions stipulated hereunder in sub- statute will be eligible for starting BSc Allied Health Sciences Courses mentioned above. Application from the individuals for Certificate of Registration and affiliation will not be entertained.

The following conditions will apply to starting the courses –

The institution must be a Modern Medical College having an attached teaching Hospital with recognized MBBS courses and recognized PG courses or other major Hospitals with 300 beds strength or above having Super Specialty/Specialty departments offering recognized DM/M.Ch./MD /MS/ DNB courses in the related subjects.

The teaching hospital shall have diagnostic facilities in the above departments and Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, and Microbiology. As the National Medical Commission prescribes, these departments should be headed by qualified teaching staff. The hospital should have the facility of a blood bank as per the concerned regulations.

Per the existing rules, permission from AERB is required to start the course of B. Sc. Nuclear Medicine Technology.

The Hospital/College shall have the following full-fledged departments under qualified teaching staff as specified by the National Medical Commission with the following sections –

Parent Department -

All departments must have 20 bedded ward and 5 beds ICU, with the following specific equipment –

BSc Anaesthesia Technology –

The following are the requirements: Anaesthesia Work Stations, Vaporizers, Laryngoscopes, Endotracheal Tubes, Laryngeal Mask Airways, Airways, Face masks, Multipara Monitors, Suction apparatus, Central Supply of Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide gases, Infusion pumps, Ambu bag, Bain Circuit, Crash Cart, Endoscopes, Peripheral Nerve Stimulators, USG machine, Gum elastic Bougies.

BSc Operation Theatre Technology -

1.Minimum 4 Operation theaters (2-General & 2-Specialty)

2.PACU with 6 beds (Recovery room)

3.RICU with 6 beds

4.Work stations – 4, ABG, Monitors, defibrillators, Crash Carts, ICU ventilators -6, Central Oxygen and Suction.

5.CSSD.

BSc Cardiac & Cardio Vascular Technology –

1.ECG, Echo, TEE, Treadmill, Cath lab, Holter, 10 beds ICU with all modern monitoring equipment, defibrillators.

BSc Renal Dialysis Technology -

2.Hemodialysis department with 10 HD machines

3.Peritoneal dialysis facility

4.Renal Lab with kidney biopsy facility

BSc Optometry Technology -

1.Thin lenses, Thick Lenses, Prisms with all diopters and refractory equipment

2.Optical & ophthalmic instruments: Standard Test Charts, Retinoscopes, Ophthalmoscopes) direct & indirect), Refractometers, Auto Refractometers, Slit lamps, Keratometer, tonometers, devices for color vision testing, ultrasonogram (A scan & B Scan)

BSc Respiratory Therapy Technology -

1.ECG, 2DEcho, TMT, Digital X-Ray Machine, Ventilators, Multipara monitors Defibrillators, Pulse oximeters, USG, ABG machines, Electrolytes, Creatine, Intubation sets, Holters, 10 beds each ICU, INCU, AMC, RICU, Ophthalmoscopes, Nebulizer, C-PAP Apparatus, Refrigerators, Tutorial Rooms, Staff Room. Dress Changing Rooms, Difficult intubation Carts, Crash Carts.

BSc Neuro Science Technology -

2.EEG Machine Analogue – 1

3.EEG Machine Digital – 1

4.EMG/NCS/EP Machine – 2

5.Video EEG – 1

BSc Critical Care Technology -

1.ECG, 2D ECHO, TMT, Digital X-Ray Machines, Ventilators, Multipara monitors Defibrillators, Pulse oximeters, USG, ABG, Intubation sets, Holters, 10 beds each ICU, INCU, AMC, RICU, Ophthalmoscopes, Nebulizer, C-PAP Apparatus, Refrigerators, Tutorial Rooms, Staff Room. Dress Changing Rooms, Difficult intubation Carts, Crash Carts, CT scan, MRI Scan, C-Arm

BSc Nuclear Medicine Technology ( AERB permission Mandatory) -

BSc Audiology and Speech Therapy Technology -

1.Audiology: 2 Diagnostic channel Audiometer with Accessories such as earphone, ear cushion combination with adjustable headband, B.C. vibrator, transducers like the microphone and matching loudspeakers, Portable Audiometer with the provision of A.C. and B.C. testing: desirable screening audiometer, Clinical Immittance Audiometer (Desk model) with accessories, Portable/Screening impedance, audiometer, Clinical BSEAR, Otoacoustic emission, Calibration equipment for AC, BC and free field (by possession or access), IGO and HAT for hearing aid trial and making electroacoustic measurements Stopwatch, Otoscope, Ear Mould Lab-fully equipped.

2.Speech Pathology: Speech and Language Tests (Tests for differential diagnosis) (English and local language), Proforma, Speech Therapy material (Indian, Language, and English), Toys and Books, Mirrors - size 2' x 3, Speech Trainer, Portable and Digital tape recorders, Hi-Fi Ampli Deck with speakers and a good microphone, Expirograph/Aerophone, Computer PC-AT with VGA Color Monitor, Software for diagnostic/therapeutic use, Endo stroboscope, EGG, Stop Watch, Audio cassettes for training/CDs, Pitch pipe, Tongue depressors.

BSc Medical Records Sciences -

1.Computers, printers, scanners, and portable hard disks for storage of data

Note: All the departments shall have infrastructure per NMC Guidelines to intake 100 MBBS seats.

Pharmacology Department as per NMC Guidelines of 100 MBBS seat intake.

Anesthesia department as per NMC Guidelines of 100 MBBS seat intake.

Surgery department as per NMC Guidelines of 100 MBBS seat intake.

Medicine as per NMC Guidelines of 100 MBBS seat intake.

The application for Certificate of Registration and affiliation from the KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal, shall be in writing and Form-I annexed with these statutes addressed to the Registrar of the KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal and shall be submitted to the Registrar before 1st July of the Academic Year preceding to which affiliation is sought for. The inspection fee of Rs.25000 for each course. (Waived off for Government Medical Colleges).

The application for Certificate of Registration and affiliation shall be submitted along with the Essentiality Certificate issued by Telangana State Government to establish the course and shall contain the following particulars namely -

1.Name of the owner – Government / Trust / Society with full address

2.Name of the affiliated college

3.Place and address where the courses are to be located

4.The details of courses and number of students proposed to be admitted in the first year of the course – ten to twenty students per course

5.The availability of the land, building and other physical infrastructure, and training facility available to the students to be admitted

6.Ready built-in area available for the accommodation of the academic complex

7.Hostels are available for boys and girls

8.The applicant shall provide such other particulars as may be required by KNRUHS from time to time

On receipt of the application for the Certificate of Registration and Affiliation, the University shall scrutinize the same and depute an Inspection Committee to verify the conditions required to be fulfilled by the applicant to become eligible to receive the said certificate of Registration and Affiliation. The Inspection Committee will consist of the faculty, preferably from Government institutions but not from the same college which is applying for the said course.

Conditions to be fulfilled by the applicant to become eligible to receive the Certificate of Registration and Affiliation -

1.The applicant shall satisfy the University's criteria that all the college's infrastructural facilities are on one campus.

2.The college should have in addition a workshop for medical instrumentation.

3.The applicant shall own a ready-built area of 15,000 sq. ft. suitable for starting the BScAllied Health Sciences Courses with proper sanitation facilities, provision for safe drinking water, adequate water supply for clinical and laboratory purposes, library, store rooms, toilets for students, staff (separately for men and women) and such other facilities necessary and those that the University may specify from time to time in this regard. It is desirable to have a hostel facility (separately for boys and girls).

The applicant shall fulfill the following conditions before applying for Registration and affiliation for the 1st year BScAllied Health Sciences Courses of study, namely -

1.Shall have obtained an Essentiality Certificate from the Government of Telangana.

2.Shall appoint a Principal and Professor who shall be a qualified teacher in the said course

3.Shall submit letters for appointment of qualified staff members as detailed below, which are essential to becoming eligible to start the first year B.Sc.

4.Courses of study in the said subject

If there are deficiencies in the fulfillment of the conditions, the same may be informed to the concerned management. After receipt of the compliance report of the management, the University may conduct a re-inspection on payment of a sum of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) or such amount as may be prescribed by the Executive Council from time to time, by means of a Demand Draft drawn in favor of the Registrar, KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal. The Inspection Committee shall re-inspect the institutions and submit the report to the University.

When the University is fully satisfied based on the Inspection report that all the conditions required by the applicant are fulfilled, the University shall notify the institution for payment of the affiliation fee of Rs.2.00 lakhs per course (waived off for Government Medical Colleges) or as fixed by the Executive Council of University from time to time in the form of DD in the name of the Registrar.
