MHA Advisory on Secure use of ZOOM Meeting Platform: RGUHS issues notice

Bengaluru: Through a recent circular, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has instructed all the Principals/ Deans to follow the above advisory issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs concerning the secure use of ZOOM Meeting Platform.

The advisory mentions the following:

The Cyber Coordination Centre (CyCord), under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has issued an advisory on secure use of ZOOM Meeting Platform by private individuals. This advisory states that the platform is not for use by Government officers/officials for official purposes.
The document makes reference to earlier advisories of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team(Cert-In) and states that Zoom is not a safe platform. The guidelines have been issued to safeguard private individuals who would still like to use the platform for private purposes.
The broad objective of this advisory is to prevent any unauthorized entry into a Zoom Conference Room and prevent the unauthorized participant to carry out malicious attacks on the terminals of other users in the conference.

Following this, the RGUHS issued a circular stating that most of the institutions affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, have been conducting online classes by using various technological tools. However, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India has issued advisory to safeguard private individuals on the secure use of Zoom platform for conducting online classes

Therefore, the varsity has instructed all the Principals/ Deans to follow the above advisory and to motivate/facilitate all Nursing/Allied Health Sciences /Pharmacy /AYUSH colleges for conducting online classes to impart knowledge in their respective speciality during the academic year, till COVID-19 crises ease out.

The same shall be reported to RGUHS in the prescribed format every week and monthly consolidated statement to Dean faculty Nursing /Allied Health Sciences/ Pharmacy /AYUSH to the following E-Mail address vc@rguhs.ac.in/directordcdrgugh@gmail.com It is also bought to notice that some institutions have not yet started the online classes till now; Institutions are hereby instructed to start the classes immediately.
