Maharashtra : Through a recent notice, MUHS (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences)  Nashik has invited online applications for the Ph.D. Entrance Test in the concerned subject of research under the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurved & Unani, Homoeopathy, Allied Health Sciences (Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) and Interdisciplinary / Interpathy subjects.

Candidates are required to apply only ONLINE through the University's website www.muhs.ac.in with prescribed fee (online payment) on or before 31/05/2022. Before applying for the same, the candidates are instructed to go through the University Direction No. 01/2020, which is available on University website https://www.muhs.ac.in and the subjects for which PET examination is conducted (Annexure "A" (click here to open) - list of subjects).

INTRODUCTION: -

The Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) for admission to Doctor of Philosophy under the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda & Unani, Homoeopathy, Allied Health Sciences (Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy) and Interdisciplinary / Interpathy subjects for academic year 2022-23 will be conducted by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.

Eligibility: -

A candidate, who fulfils the following criteria, shall be eligible to appear for the Entrance Test, namely: -

I. He is a citizen of India;

II. He has studied and passed in the course(s) leading to the award of PG degree in respective branches recognized by respective councils and Government of India and affiliated to any University established by Law; and

III. The candidate willing to register for Ph.D. program as Ph.D. Scholar, shall fulfil the eligibility conditions as mentioned in Clause No.12 and 13 of University Direction No. 01/2020 (Refer Annexure 'VI").

IV. The candidates who are pursuing their Master's degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master's degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited may also apply for this test. However, they will be treated as eligible for the allotment of seats to Ph.D. admission only after submission of final year passed out result before the commencement of Ph.D. seat allotment program. If the candidate is failed/unable to submit his final year passed out result, performance in Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) 2019-20 will not be considered for Ph.D. admission for this academic year and they will be treated as disqualified.

Instructions for Filling Online Application Form: -

I. Candidate should have a valid e-mail id and correct Mobile number.

II. Before filling Online Application Form candidate must possess the required criteria and educational qualification as mentioned in the Direction No. 01/2020.

III. Online Application Form must be filled in 05 steps.

i.e. Edit Application (Step-1), Add Qualification Details (Step-2), Add Experience Details (Step-3), Paid Application Fee Online (Step-4) and Submit and Print Application Form (Step-5).

IV. Candidate shall submit only one application form, if candidate submits more than one application then, the previous application will be rejected and latest application submitted by the candidate shall be considered.

V. Eligible Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. program must submit their application to the University through online mode only by visiting the University website (https://www.muhs.ac.in) on or before 31st May 2022 at 23:59 Hrs. (midnight).

VI. For any modification in the online application, candidate has to submit One Time Password (OTP) after entering mobile number. The candidate can modify his application before online submission.

VII. Once the applicant has submitted his or her online application form by pressing "SUBMIT" button, then there will not be any scope to change the online data.

IX. Candidate must submit the hard copy of the printed online application form with self-attested all necessary documents as prescribed by the University on or before 10/06/2022 by post or in person at the following address-

"The Registrar,

Nashik -422004".

X. The application must be highlighted as "APPLICATION FOR Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST (PET)-2022-23" on the top side of envelope. Incomplete applications, in any respect, shall be rejected and no complaint or queries shall be entertained in this regard, therefore, it is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the application for the PET is complete in all respect and is supported by necessary attachments.

XI. The admission of the Candidates for Ph.D. Degree shall be on the basis of Merit of Entrance test conducted by the University.

XII. The in-service Candidates applying for full-time / part-time Ph.D. programs shall have to submit "No Objection Certificate" from their employer in the prescribed format as the case may be.

XIII. Reservation policy will be followed for admission as per the existing rules of the State Government. The Physically Disabled (PwD) candidates may claim reservation by producing valid certificate to that effect issued by the competent authority. There will be 5% seats reserved for persons with disabilities (PwD).

Registration Fee:

Mode of Payment: - All the Candidates need to pay Entrance Test Registration fee (Non-refundable) of Rs. 5000/- for Open Category and Rs. 3500/- for reserved Category candidate by payment Gateway mode only.

Examination Centre: -

The University will conduct PET Examination at Nashik City only.

Issuance of Admit Cards:

Admit Cards for PET-2022-23 appearing candidates will be made available on the University website 15 days before the examination date and will not be sent to individual by post/e-mail. For downloading the Admit Card, candidate is required to login into University website using the Username and password provided at the time submission of application. It shall be the responsibility of the candidate to download the Admit Card. Candidates has to come with this printout of the Admit Card at the time of the Entrance Test. Candidates without Admit Cards will not be allowed to enter the Examination hall. Details of date of examination, time and venue shall be informed on Admit Card provided for Entrance Test (PET 2022-23).

Identity Verification: -

In the examination hall, the Admit Card along with original of the candidate's photo identity (bearing reasonably the same name as it appears on the Admit Card) such as PAN Card / Indian Passport / Driving License / Voter's Card / Bank Passbook with Photograph/ Photo identity proof issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead along with photograph / Photo identity proof issued by a People's Representative on official letterhead along with photograph / recent Identity Card issued by a recognized College/ Aadhaar Card/E-Aadhaar Card print with a photograph/ Photo Identity Card (of Central Govt. or State Govt. only) should be shown to the invigilator for verification. The candidate's identity will be verified with respect to his/her details on the Admit Card, in the Attendance List and requisite documents submitted.

If identity of the candidate is in doubt the candidate may not be allowed to appear for the Examination.

Pattern and Syllabus for the Entrance Test (PET-2022-23): - Pattern of Examination

Paper I (100 Marks)

:

General Aptitude (25 MCQ each of 02 marks) & Research Methodology (25 MCQ each of 02 marks)

Total 50 MCQ of 02 marks each.

(This paper is compulsory and common for all the Candidates)

Paper II

:

Subject Knowledge Test (50 MCQ each of 2 marks)

(100 marks)

(subject applied for PhD research by the candidate)

I. Entrance Test shall be conducted in offline mode only.

II. The Entrance Test will consist of two question papers each of 60 minutes of duration.

III. The Syllabus of Paper- II shall be based on Post Graduate Specialization in Health Science of concerned subject applied for research by the candidate.

IV. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

VI. All questions are compulsory.

VII. Re-valuation and Photocopy facility for PET is not available and request for the same will not be accepted.

VIII. There will be no grace marks for Entrance Test.

Language of the entrance examination shall be English only.

Exemption from PET Examination: -

The candidates who has qualified UGC/CSIR/AYUSH NET Examination in a relevant subject will be exempted from Entrance test only. There will be no separate seats reserved for UGC/CSIR/AYUSH NET exam qualified candidates. The admission of such candidates shall be based on the marks obtained in UGC/CSIR /AYUSH NET Examination and these marks shall be consider for preparation of merit list. Candidates seeking exemption from entrance test are also required to fill up an online application form. They are also required to submit all the documents along with the application form to the university.

Preparation of Merit List: -

Merit list will be prepared of those candidates appearing for Entrance Test (PET 2022-23). The said merit list will be used for the process of provisional

admission. The Entrance test shall be qualifying test with 50% qualifying marks for Open category candidates and 45% qualifying marks for Reserved Category candidates in both the papers. The Open category candidates and Reserved Category candidates need to score minimum 50% and 45% marks respectively in both papers in combined (i.e. Paper-I and II) to qualify for preparation of merit list.

Tie-Breaker: -

In case of equal marks in Entrance Test the following procedure shall be adopted for deciding the merit: -

1. Preference will be given to the candidates having super specialty, Post Graduate degree in Health Sciences in respective subject, Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences in respective subject and M.Sc. in Medical subjects respectively.

2. If the tie still persists then an older candidate will be preferred over the younger candidate.

Selection Process: -

I. On the basis of merit list, Category-wise Allotment list of the Ph.D. Centre shall be published on the University website. The Candidate shall finalize his admission in the allotted Ph.D. Centre and submit his retention form, along with necessary documents and the notified fees, within the time schedule published by the University.

II. There will be two regular rounds of admission and one MOP-UP round conducted. The candidates admitted in first round will have to submit retention form to respective study centre for confirmation of their admission and he will not be allowed for further admission rounds. If the candidate opts to go for further admission round for better choice of study centre, then he need not to submit the retention form.

III. The selected candidate shall join concerned research centre and take the admission for Ph.D. program as per clause 15 of Direction 01/2020. If the selected candidate is unable to join within stipulated period due to any reason, the seat will be considered for next round of admission.

IV. At the time of admission, the selected candidate shall pay the prescribed fees for admission (Refer University Notification No. 14/2019, dated 23/03/2019) which is made available on University Website and shall complete the other procedures related to his\her admission.

V. If reserved candidate not available then, the seat will be allotted to next Category Candidate as per the Government rules.

Cancellation of Admission and Refund of Fees: -

For the cancellation of admission, a candidate has to submit an application to the University through their respective research centre. The fees paid to the University will be refunded after deduction as under.

Provisional Registration Process: -

The date of the joining of the candidate at Research Centre shall be treated as Provisional date of Registration. However, the actual term of candidate shall be deemed to start from the date of approval to the Synopsis.

Disclaimer: -

I. PET 2022-23 is only qualifying Examination. No PET 2022-23 qualified candidate can claim automatic registration for the Ph.D. program.

II. It shall be the responsibility of the candidate to check whether he/she fulfils the eligibility conditions for the Ph.D. registration. University shall not be responsible for any lapses thereof.

Warning: -

In case, any candidate is found to have submitted false information or Certificate(s) etc. or is found to have concealed or withheld some information in his/her application form, then he/she shall be debarred from admission.

Any other action that may be considered appropriate by the Vice-Chancellor of the University may also be taken against him/her, which may include criminal prosecution also.

16. Admission Grievance Committee: - The Admission Grievance Committee will be setup under the Chairmanship of the Competent Authority. It shall deal with the representations submitted by the candidate(s) related to Ph.D. admission grievances, if any.

Note:

In case, any Candidate, who is Ph.D. Guide or Research Supervisor of the University and intends to seek admission for Ph.D. degree, he shall not enroll any Ph.D. student under him till he completes his Ph.D. degree. It is his responsibility to communicate to the University that, he is seeking admission to Ph.D. course so as not to allocate the students.

Intake capacity indicated against the respective research centre may vary (increase or decrease) at any stage.

Before admission process, it is mandatory for all Ph.D. centres to get continuation of affiliation, if not done earlier.

Reservation rules will not be applicable to minority educational institutions.

The University reserves the right to change, alter any rule and Examination schedule regarding admission procedure.
