New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a notice requiring candidates admitted to NBEMS Diploma and Post MBBS DNB Broad Speciality courses for the 2025 admission session to complete their joining formalities and self-appraisal process through the Online Portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR).

The notice is addressed to all NBEMS-accredited hospitals and trainees who have joined seats allotted through MCC counselling, as well as those admitted under in-service quota seats allotted by State Governments, Railways, PSUs, or ESIC.

Through the notice, NBEMS has clarified that all candidates who have joined their allotted seats must update their joining status on the OPJR portal. This applies equally to candidates allotted seats through MCC counselling and in-service doctors admitted under the in-service quota seats.

As per the notice, the OPJR portal will go live on March 9, 2026. The last date for trainees to complete OPJR formalities is April 9, 2026. The last date for hospitals to complete verification is April 30, 2026. Failure to adhere to these deadlines may impact registration status.

Accredited hospitals have been directed to carefully verify the self-appraisal submitted by trainees, check original documents before confirming eligibility and verify Caste/Category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) as per MCC guidelines before allowing joining under reserved category seats.

NBEMS has warned that any hospital approving or forwarding false or fabricated documents may face action under the terms of the accreditation agreement.

Upon successful submission of the joining report and verification of the self-appraisal, NBEMS will issue a “Letter of Provisional Registration.”

However, NBEMS has clarified that the registration is purely provisional. It does not confer automatic rights to continue the course, appear in the Final Exit Examination, or obtain the degree/diploma. Registration remains subject to further verification of documents. Candidates must join NBEMS training within the reporting window of the counselling round. Hospitals are not permitted to grant extensions without NBEMS approval.

Meanwhile, for in-service candidates, training will begin only after being formally relieved from their parent organisation. Any training undertaken before official relief will be considered null and void. NBEMS has placed full responsibility on trainees for the accuracy and authenticity of the information submitted in the self-appraisal form. Any discrepancies or false declarations may result in termination of candidature.
