NEET 2023 on May 7, NTA to begin registrations soon
New Delhi: The suspense on the exam date for NEET 2023 is finally over. According to the exam calendar released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET 2023 will be conducted on May 7th next year for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and BSc Nursing courses.
The official notification inviting registrations from interested candidates will be released soon by the NTA examination and the NEET 2023 application form will be hosted on the official website-- nta.ac.in, neet.nta.nic.in. Once the NEET 2023 application form is released, interested candidates can register through the official website by paying the prescribed application fees.
The NTA will also release the NEET information brochure entailing all registration details- NEET 2023 exam pattern, syllabus, application details, eligibility and qualification criteria and much more.
Who can Apply?
The minimum age limit required to appear in the NEET UG examination is 17 years. The candidate who has qualified Class 12 exam or equivalent from a recognised board/institution is eligible to appear in the NEET exam. Such qualification should comprise of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English as a core course.
Only NEET for admissions to AIIMS, other INI institutes:
Only the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET will be the gateway to the MBBS admissions at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS and other Institutes of National Importance (INI) including JIPMER and PGIMER. No separate medical entrance test will be held for MBBS admissions at INI institutions.
The governing body of AIIMS headed by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took the decision on December 6 and rejected the proposal of a separate entrance examination at the undergraduate level, as distinct from NEET, for all the AIIMS and institutes of National Importance after deliberation.
96,077 MBBS seats available:
There are a total number of 96,077 MBBS seats and 49,790 Postgraduate medical seats in India, the Minister of State in the Union Health Ministry Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar had recently informed the Rajya Sabha.
Among the MBBS seats, altogether 51,712 MBBS seats are in the Government Medical Colleges and 44,365 MBBS seats are in the Private Medical Colleges. The MoS Health further informed that since 2014, the total number of medical colleges in the country has increased by 67%. While the MBBS seats have increased by 87%.
