NEET, NEET PG AIQ Counselling: NMC issues direction for Govt Medical Colleges

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts the NEET PG counselling process for admission to 50 per cent AIQ seats and 15 per cent NEET AIQ counselling for MBBS seats.

"It is mandatory for the government medical colleges to contribute 15% of MBBS seats and 50% of Postgraduate Broad Specialties (MD/ MS) for All India Quota respectively, to MCC of DGHS for conducting of counselling as per the directions of the Supreme Court," the NMC notification states.

The counselling process for NEET and NEET PG AIQ seats is yet to start. The counselling for the state quota seats will be held thereafter by respective the state medical counselling committees.

NEET PG counselling 2021 for the 50 per cent AIQ seats was supposed to begin from October 25, 2021. However, after the OBC and EWS reservation policy that was announced by the Central Government was questioned, MCC had postponed the counseling dates. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Central Government had assured the top court that till the matter concerning EWS quota gets resolved, no NEET PG counseling would be held.

The Supreme Court hearing on the reservation policy in medical seats has been deferred multiple times and is expected to be heard on November 25th. 1.6 lakh candidates who appeared for the NEET PG 2021 exam are now waiting for counselling to begin.

The MCC had earlier issued an advisory for MBBS, BDS and AYUSH Candidates who are going to be participating in NEET Counselling 2021 for this academic year's admissions.
