NEET PG 2020 : DGHS notifies new dates for state level counselling on MCI website
Coming up to the conclusion and to eliminate further delay in the PG medical admission process, the authorities approved the dates- 24th April to 4th May for state-level counselling.
New Delhi: After receiving several queries by the respective state governments regarding the Round-1 of NEET PG Counselling 2020 which had been halted due to coronavirus epidemic, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has released the approved dates for the state level counselling.
The information to this effect was uploaded on the official website of the Medical Council of India (MCI). The letter in this regard was written to the MCI Secretary-General wherein the DGHS mentioned that as per the MCI's time framework for NEET PG counselling, the PG medical admission process had been started. However, due to coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown across the country imposed by the government, the admission process had to be stopped.
"The Round-1 of All India Quota of PG Counselling was commenced on 12 th March to be completed on 3 rd April. However, the same had to be halted amid the Lockdown imposed by the Govt. of India due to COVID 19 outbreak."

This further led to the delay in state counselling. Later, the said matter was taken by the Union Health Ministry in the interest of PG medical students after the DGHS received requests and queries received from State Counselling authorities regarding their schedule for PG Counselling.
Coming up to the conclusion and to eliminate further delay in the PG medical admission process, the authorities approved the dates- 24th April to 4th May for state-level counselling.
"A lot of requests and queries are being received from State Counselling authorities regarding their schedule for PG Counselling. This matter was taken up with the Ministry and Round-1 of State counselling from 20 th April to 4 th May 2020 has been approved by them. The same may be notified if possible, to all State Counselling authorities and displayed on the MCI website. Further, the schedule of Round-2 of All India Quota and State counselling will be informed later as the Lockdown is still continuing and the physical movement of the students is not possible…"
Earlier, on 7th April 2020. It was decided by the competent authority to resume the counselling in view of a number of representations being received from the participating institutes and the candidates for the same. Hence, the Round-1 of PG Counselling was resumed from 9th April followed by the publication of result on 10th April 2020. The Reporting module for Physical/ Online joining for Round- 1 is already in progress since 13th April and the last date for the same is 24th April 2020 for AIQ counselling which is being conducted by the MCC.

The Schedule of PG Counselling, 2020 with the stipulated Time framework as per MCI Gazette Notification is as follows:
No. MCI-18(1 )/2017-Med./174626.—In exercise of powers conferred by Section 33 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). the Medical Council of India with the previous sanction of the Central Government hereby makes the following regulations to further amend the "Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000" namely:-
1.(1) These regulations may be called the "Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulations, 2018.".
(ii) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the "Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000", the following additions/modifications / deletions / substitutions, shall be as indicated therein:-
