New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed the concerned candidates who wish to participate for the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (VMMC & SJH or ABVIMS & RMLH or ESIC) seat in Round 2 NEET PG Counselling that their allotment in the said Round is subject to the outcome of a matter pending at the Delhi High Court.

" Candidates who wish to participate for the GGSIP University (VMMC & SJH or ABVIMS & RMLH or ESIC) seat in Round 2 of the NEET PG Counselling, 2020 are hereby informed that their allotment in the said Round is subject to the outcome of "Writ Petition(C) No. 2941/2020 in the matter of Mahua Bindal and Ors. v/s Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Ors." before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi, New Delhi," stated the MCC notice

The case pertains to the formation of policy and guidelines by the State for admission into the 50% State quota in the Post Graduate Medical Courses within the State of NCT of Delhi. The petition to this effect was filed by Mahua Bindal and others against Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and other respondents before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi.

The petitioner 1 sought PG medical admission and 6 other petitioners in the case urged the bench's intervention in the installation of the said policy for the upcoming academic sessions after this year.

The cause of action for filing of the present petition arose only with the publication of the brochure by the varsity on 27.02.2020 announcing the 100% reservation for the students of its university. The counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners submitted that the petition was filed immediately thereafter.

In response, the learned counsel for the university prayed for clarification of the order dated 20.03.2020 of Delhi Court wherein it had directed that the result of the counselling scheduled by the Medical Counselling Committee with respect to the varsity, shall be subject to the outcome of the present petition. The counsel submitted that this order be confined only to the seats reserved by institutional preference and not for the entire strength of seats of the university.

The matter is still pending before the court

Hence, issuing an official announcement to the said effect, the MCC has released a notice stating:

Candidates who wish to participate for the GGSIP University (VMMC & SJH or ABVIMS & RMLH or ESIC) seat in Round 2 of the NEET PG Counselling, 2020 are hereby informed that their allotment in the said Round is subject to the outcome of "Writ Petition (C) No. 2941/2020 in the matter of Mahua Bindal and Ors. v/s Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Ors." before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi, New Delhi.
