NEET Results out: Take a look at 10 AIR Toppers

New Delhi: Ending the wait of medical aspirants across the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has finally declared the result of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examinations 2023 on Tuesday.

Issuing a Press Release on June 13, 2023, NTA has provided the details of the top 50 candidates in NEET (UG) – 2023 including their name, gender, category, marks obtained, percentile score, NEET All India rank, and the names of the States from where they belong.

NTA has also released separate lists of 20 Female toppers, 20 Male toppers, 10 Female (PwBD) toppers, 10 Male (PwBD) toppers in 2023, 10 Unreserved Category (UR) toppers, 10 EWS Category toppers, 10 SC Category toppers, 10 ST Category toppers, OBC Category toppers, and list of State toppers.

Here is the list of 10 All India Rank (AIR) holders for NEET-UG 2023: 

NEET AIR 1 has been shared by two candidates- Prabanjan J from Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakravarthi from Andhra Pradesh. Both of them have secured 720 marks in the exam scoring a percentile of 99.9999019.

Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Kaustav Baur has secured AIR 3 with 716 marks and 99.9998528 percentile score. AIR 4 holder is Pranjal Aggarwal from Punjab. He has secured 715 marks and 99.999068 percentile score.

Dhruv Advani from Karnataka and Surya Siddharth N from Tamil Nadu have secured AIR 5 and 6 respectively and both of them have scored 715 in the examination.

AIR 7 is Shriniketh Ravi from Maharashtra. He has also scored 715 marks in the exam and secured 99.999068 percentile score. Swayam Shakti Tripathy from Odisha has also scored 715 and he has secured AIR 8. Both Varun S from Tamil Nadu and Parth Khandelwal from Rajasthan have scored 715 and they have secured AIR 9 and AIR 10 respectively.

NEET-UG 2023 AIR 1: 

Hailing from Tamil Nadu Prabanjan J has secured NEET AIR 1 with a perfect score of 720 and a percentile score of 99.9999019. He has shared his position of the topper with Bora Varun Chakravarthi from Andhra Pradesh.

Attributing his outstanding performance to rigorous practice with NEET-pattern questions, Prabanjan told Indian Express, "Many assume NEET to be really tough, but I made it with practice.”

This is the third time since NEET became mandatory in 2017 that the toppers have scored full marks. Prabanjan has also extended his heartfelt gratitude to his teachers, parents, and the school management for their continuous support in his journey.

After finishing his Class 10 examination under Tamil Nadu state matriculation (English medium) system, Prabanjan pursued his higher secondary education under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board.

He completed his classes 12 and 12 in Chennai, where he used to stay in a hostel at Velammal Vidyalaya, Ayanambakkam. His parents are government school teachers. While his father teaches history, his mother is a teacher of mathematics. In his Class 12 Board exams, Prabanjan scored 463 or 92.6%.

In the Press Release, NTA also provided the highlights of NEET UG from 2019 to 2023, language-wise number of candidates registered in these last five years, gender-wise, category-wise, and Nationality wise number of candidates registered, appeared, and qualified in 2022 and 2023, number of PwBD category candidates registered, appeared, and qualified in 2022 and 2023.

Apart from these, NTA has also released Category wise number of Candidates Qualified, based on qualifying criteria of NEET (UG)- 2022 and 2023, State-wise number of Candidates Registered, Appeared, and Qualified in 2022 and 2023.

As per Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the NEET (UG) has to be conducted as a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [(NEET (UG)] for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions. Similarly, as per Section 14 of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, there shall be a uniform NEET (UG) for admission to undergraduate courses in each of the disciplines i.e. BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses of the Indian System of Medicine in all Medical Institutions governed under this Act. NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to admission to BHMS course under National Commission for Homeopathy.

The National Testing Agency conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) for 2087462 candidates at 4097 different Centres located in 499 Cities throughout the country including 14 Cities outside India on 07 May 2023 (Sunday) from 02:00 P.M. to 05:20 P.M.(IST).

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) – 2023 was conducted in the state of Manipur for 8753 candidates at 34 centres located in 11 Cities on the request of the State Government of Manipur on 06 June 2023 (Tuesday) from 12:00 PM to 03:20 P.M. It was also conducted in the 10 different cities i.e., Aizawl (Mizoram), Kohima (Nagaland), Dimapur (Nagaland), Shillong (Meghalaya), Guwahati (Assam), Jorhat (Assam), Silchar (Assam), Kolkata (West Bengal), Delhi and Bengaluru (Karnataka).

The Examination was conducted in 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu).

The examination was also conducted outside India in Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore along with Dubai, and Kuwait City

NEET-UG Results for Admission:

"The Result of NEET (UG) - 2023 may be utilized by other Entities of Central and State Governments, in accordance with their respective eligibility criteria / other norms /applicable regulations/guidelines/ rules. The result data will also be utilized for B.Sc. (H) Nursing courses in accordance with their respective eligibility criteria / other norms /applicable regulations/guidelines/ rules. The NEET (UG) – 2023 data will also be used for admissions to BVSc & AH courses under the 15% quota of VCI in recognized Veterinary Colleges. AACCC (All-India Ayush Central Counselling Committee) shall be the counselling authority for AIQ with respect to BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses under NCISM. AACCC shall also be the Counselling Authority for AIQ with respect to BHMS under NCH," mentioned the Press Release by NTA.

Information regarding 15% All India Quota Seats: 

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India will conduct the Counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats, Deemed Universities, Central Universities, Seats of ESIC and AFMC, BHU and AMU. Candidates may visit the website www.mcc.nic.in for further information. Candidates will apply for 15% All India Quota seats as per the directions of DGHS and Counselling will be stopped once the seats are exhausted.

The details and schedule of counselling would be available on the websites of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Directorates of States.

Information regarding State Quota Seats:

For State quota and other seats falling under the ambit of States, candidates may apply to their domicile States and merit list as per State rules, based on All India Rank, will be prepared by concerned Counselling Authorities. The counselling for Private Medical Colleges will also be conducted by the concerned State Counselling Authority.

Candidates are advised to be in touch with the respective Counselling Authorities and Institutions concerned for further details.

Inter-se-Merit of Candidates for Tie-Breaking:

In case of two or more candidates obtain equal marks/percentile scores in the NEET (UG) - 2023, the inter-se merit shall be determined as follows:

a. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,

b. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,

c. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the Test, followed by,

d. Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test,

e. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by

f. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test, followed by

g. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by

"As per the approval of National Medical Commission (NMC) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) the inter-se-Merit of Candidate for Tie-Breaking rule will be applied as per the criteria mentioned in Information Bulletin (refer to Chapter 15, Section 15.2) for NEET (UG)-2023. For the NEET (UG)-2024, may be updated further on NTA NEET website (https://neet.nta.nic.in/)," NTA mentioned in the Press Release.

"The Result of NEET-UG, 2023 has been declared on the basis of the qualifying criteria prescribed by the National Medical Commission and Dental Council of India and also based on the information submitted by the candidates in their online application forms. The qualified candidates may please note that they have to further complete the formalities with the respective Counselling Authorities viz DGHS, Medical Education Directorates of States, etc. for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses," it further added.

The details and schedule of counselling would be available on the websites of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Medical Education Directorates of States as applicable. The details of the Medical Education Directorate of States are given in Appendix-IV of the Information Bulletin available on the NEET website. The counselling would be conducted by the respective Counselling Authorities subject to prevailing rules and norms for admission in Medical Colleges/Dental Colleges under their ambit. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the respective Counselling Authorities and Institutions concerned for further details.
