New Delhi: The ongoing investigation in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) scam has revealed that the accused gang took around Rs 20 lakh for ensuring a seat in the medical colleges or to get enough marks in the exam. 

Of this huge money, around Rs 4-5 lakh would be given to the impersonators who are students of medical colleges or experts of coaching centres.

The CBI probe has further revealed that the gang collected the login-IDs and passwords from the aspirants and morph the admit card while downloading the same. In this way, instead of the photo of the aspirants, the photos of the impersonators were imposed in the admit for ensuring their access to the exam hall.

Apart from 8 arrests, around 11 people have been booked in the scam so far. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), among the 8 arrested people, six are exam solvers.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier arrested eight people, including the suspected mastermind and paper solvers, for being allegedly involved in impersonating real candidates to help them in the NEET examination.

The agency received inputs that several people had entered into a criminal conspiracy to arrange solvers to impersonate candidates in the NEET exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) at several centres in Delhi and Haryana on Sunday, the FIR alleged.

Such impersonators allegedly planned for appearing in NEET exam in the place of actual candidates in exchange of huge amount of money. The Central Bureau had alleged that the accused had collected the user IDs and passwords of the candidates, who made necessary modifications for allotment of desired examination centres.

It has been alleged by the Bureau that the accused had collected user IDs and passwords of the candidates. Therefore, the documents were morphed for making necessary modifications for allotment of desired examination centres.

As per the latest media report by News 18, the mastermind of the gang was a doctor who was a student of Safdarjung Medical College. Allegedly, the doctor coordinated with students, gang members and exam solvers and charged around Rs 20 lakh from the students for a seat in the medical colleges.

The Bureau is also investigating the role of several coaching institutes in the scam.
