NMC nod to GMC Jagtial with 150 MBBS seats
Hyderabad: Bringing good news for the medical aspirants in Telangana, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given green signal from its end for setting up a Government Medical College in Jagtial.
Following the nod from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) on Tuesday, the medical institute in Jagtial, which is affiliated with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), will commence its MBBS admission from this academic year i.e. 2022-2023, reports Telangana Today.
Initially, the medical college has received nod from the Apex Medical Regulator for offering admission in 150 MBBS seats.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Minister T Harish Rao recently announced that eight Telangana based medical colleges would begin their admission process by the academic year 2022-2023.
Those eight medical colleges were in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Wanaparthy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam.
Among these, Kothagudem Medical College failed to get recognition of NMC as the apex medical body had allegedly found 88.8% deficiency in faculty and a 69.7% deficiency in resident doctors. Further the college building had been found to be under construction and there were lack of facilities such as lecture theatres, library, laboratories, student hostels and staff quarters.
In fact, as per the latest media report by Telangana Today, among the eight proposed medical colleges, Jagtial is the first one to get a nod from the Apex Medical Body. Following this, the senior officials of the Health Department are expecting permission from the Commission for other medical colleges as well.
This new medical college wiill have the affiliation of KNRUHS and initially it will offer admission in 150 MBBS seats.
