No more rounds of NEET SS Counselling 2022: MCC

New Delhi: In a major update, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced that there will be no further rounds of NEET SS Counselling 2022.

Thus, all rounds of Super Speciality (DM/ MCh/ DNB SS) admissions for the academic session 2022-23 are over and the unallotted candidates will be getting their refund soon.

The notification issued to this effect by the MCC reads:

“As informed by NMC and MoHFW, all the rounds of Super Specialty (D.M/ M.Ch/ DNB SS) counselling for the Academic Session 2022-23 is over and there will be no further round of NEET-SS counseling for D.M/ M.Ch/ DNB SS Seats. Hence, it is to inform all candidates who have participated in Super Specialty (D.M/ M.Ch/ DNB SS) for this Academic Session 2022-23 that the refund process of all eligible candidates will start shortly.”

This decision immediately invited negative reactions from the aspirants and medical organisations as earlier pointing out that more than 900 super-speciality seats were lying vacant even after the NEET SS Mop-up round, the doctors under the umbrella of the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) urged the MCC to conduct another mop-up round for filling up the vacant seats.

Writing to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), FORDA had pointed out that NEET SS seats are a national asset and should not go vacant. With this, the association urged the DGHS to conduct another mop-up round "in the larger interest of students and citizens who stand to benefit immensely from having more super-specialty doctors in the country."
