Over 2,000 out of 6,500 BSc Nursing seats remain vacant in KNRUHS

Telangana- Even after the Telangana government allowed admission to students based on NEET or Eamcet scores, more than 2,000 out of 6,500 B.Sc Nursing seats have been still vacant for two weeks at Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana.

Following government intervention, guidelines were issued on February 24, 2024, directing KNRUHS to fill the vacancies based on merit or NEET/EMSET scores.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the students informed that the issue has arisen due to discrepancies in the admission criteria between convenor and management categories as well as confusion over NEET/Eamcet requirements. While the Indian Nursing Council relaxed the rules to allow admission without NEET/Eamcet qualification but KNR University continued to make NEET mandatory for the management quota and Eamcet for the convenor category.

Meanwhile, vacant seats have raised concerns among students as they will lose one year due to administrative delays at the university.
