PGIMER Invites Online Applications For BSc Nursing admissions 2023, check out details
Chandigarh: Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has invited online applications for BSc Nursing and Post Basic BSc Nursing for the 2023 session.
Detailed schedule –
1. The last date to submit the online application - 30.06.2023
2. Computer-Based Entrance Test - 04.08.2023
3. Expected date of declaration of result - 12.08.2022
4. Document verification of candidates invited for counseling (tentative) - 21.08.2023 (B.Sc. Nursing 4 Years) & 22.08.2022 (B.Sc. Nursing Post Basic)

Application Fee -
1. SC/ST Category: Rs.1200/- + Transaction Charges as applicable
2. For all other categories: Rs.1500/- + Transaction Charges as applicable.
3. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Candidates are exempted from payment of a fee
All candidates must deposit the above fees through the online payment gateway available at the BSc Nursing application portal w.e.f. 01.06.2023 to 30.06.2023 through Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking(Payment through UPI may be avoided).
The candidates must read the prospectus and instructions carefully before starting online registration and ensure no column is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence/request for reconsideration will be entertained. They are also advised to download and take a print of the application form. They should retain a copy of the application form till the completion of the admission process in their own interest.
In-service candidates –
1. Candidates must take the printout of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the employer.
2. The online application form will be treated as an advance copy.
3. In-service candidates of PGIMER, Chandigarh, are advised to first seek NOC from the concerned Establishment (MS office or Main Establishment) and then fill out their online applications in their own interest for appearing in the Entrance test for the said course. Candidates are required to take the printout of the filled online application form and submit the same to the office of Principal, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh, within one month of the last closing date of the application form,i.e., by 24.07.2023 along with NOC / necessary documents through their employer. Candidates are also required to retain a copy of the same with them as well.
Foreign Nationals (FN) –
1. Foreign nationals should also fill in the prescribed application form online.
2. Candidates must take the printout of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi, and it should reach by the prescribed date. They must obtain an eligibility certificate from Registrar, PGIMER, Chandigarh & clearance regarding professional qualification from the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, and submit it along with the application form.
3. The online application form will be treated as an advance copy.
4. However, the application of such candidates will be processed only after receipt of the same through diplomatic channels. These candidates are also required to appear in the entrance examination along with other candidates.

BSc Nursing (4 years) –
1. 10th certificate (DOB &Detailed Marks Card - DMC)
2. 12th certificate (DMC)
3. Category Certificate– SC/ST/OBC (in case of reserved category)
4. PwBD Certificate - for the PwBD category
BSc Nursing (Post Basic) –
1. 10th certificate (DOB &DMC)
2. 12th certificate (DMC)
3. GNM DMCs of all years (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year separately)
4. Diploma Certificate of GNM
5. Registration Certificate
6. Category Certificate– SC/ST/OBC (in case of reserved category)
7. PwBD Certificate - for the PwBD category
Duration of the courses –
1. BSc Nursing (4 Years) program (only for female candidates)
2. BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) - 2 Years program (Co-ed)
Eligibility criteria –
BSc Nursing (4 years) - only for female candidates –
1. The minimum educational requirement shall be a 10+2 examination passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English or any other examination as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
2. Candidates appearing in the 10+2 examination in 2023 can also apply for the course, but they will be issued admit card/roll numbers only if they submit the certificates/marks sheet from the respective Boards of their having passed the 10+2 examination to the Principal, NINE 10 days before the commencement of the entrance examination.
3. Age limit: Not more than 25 years and not less than 17 years on 1st September 2023, i.e., those born after 01.09.2006 and before 01.09.1998 are not eligible.
BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) –
1. Must have passed 10+2 or any other examination equivalent thereto.
2. Must have passed General Nursing and Midwifery with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
3. Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized Institute & registered with their respective State Nursing Council approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) or substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women, and children.
4. Age limit: Not more than 45 years as of 1st September 2023, i.e., those born before 1st September 1978 are not eligible. The age relaxation as per rules will apply to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories.
The candidates must fulfill all the above eligibility conditions on the last day of submission of the online application form.

Reservation to PwBD candidates is given horizontally and as per Govt. of India guidelines revised from time to time. The number of seats mentioned for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) will be adjusted against the category to which he/she belongs. PwBD details are mentioned in the notice below.

Candidates will be considered for the BSc Nursing course selection based on a test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four alternatives. There will be Negative marking to the tune of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Declaration of result –
The final result for BSc Nursing will be displayed only on the PGI website at www.pgimer.edu.in. Results of individual candidates will not be informed by telephone, and candidates are requested not to make the call to the Academic Section/NINE for such information.
Merit list –
A merit list of candidates is prepared based on marks obtained in the online entrance examination. A merit list is prepared for each category of candidates based on the following –
General
1. Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Communities
2. Persons with Benchmark Disability
3. PGI deputed/in-service candidates to the course of BSc Nursing (Post Basic)
Seats for these categories are not interchangeable. However, PwBD candidates selected under the PwBD category will consume the seat of their own category, like GEN/SC/ST/OBC.
Selection process –
The selection will be made strictly in order of merit of the candidates in the respective merit lists of entrance test.
The overall rank of all the candidates shall be decided based on percentile scores, with a higher percentile score translating into a better rank.
An overall merit list based on the percentile obtained by all the candidates appearing in the examination in the theory examination (irrespective of their category) will be prepared. Candidates of various categories who secure percentile in the theory examination, as mentioned against each category, will qualify for admission -
1. General category: 50th percentile
2. SC/ST/OBC &PwBD: 45th percentile
If two or more candidates obtain equal percentile in the entrance examination for admission to BSc Nursing (4 Years)/BSc Nursing (Post Basic) courses, then their inter-se-merit for admission to the course shall be determined based on the following –
1. A candidate who has made more attempts to pass the qualifying exam (10+2/GNM) will rank junior to a candidate who has made fewer attempts.
2. If the attempts made in passing the qualifying exam (10+2/GNM) are also the same, then a candidate with higher marks in the said examination will rank senior to a candidate with lower marks.
3. If the attempts made in passing the said examinations and the marks obtained in the examinations are also the same, then a candidate senior in age shall rank senior to the candidate who is junior in age.
Document verification & counseling –
Document verification –
1. Candidates invited for the counseling will be required to appear for the document verification process on the day before the counseling on the date and time as notified on the PGI website.
2. No Digi locker document would be accepted.
3. Only original documents will be considered during document verification/eligibility consideration for joining the course. Failing to do so will result in rejection.
Counseling –
1. Candidates will be invited for physical counseling at PGIMER, Chandigarh, strictly in order of merit in the respective merit lists based on their marks in the entrance examination.
2. The number of candidates to be called for the interview/document verification will be three times the number of seats to be filled in each category from candidates who fulfill the cutoff points.
3. It is compulsory that these candidates attend the document verification as well as an interview in person. The counseling date will be notified on the PGIMER website, i.e., “www.pgimer.edu.in.” Hence candidates are advised to visit the PGIMER website frequently for all the updates.
Admission –
1. Selected candidates should pay the fee etc., on the spot, failing which their selection will be treated as canceled, and a seat will be offered to the candidates next on the waiting list in order of merit.
2. Admission to BSc Nursing courses will close on 30.09.2023.
Waiting list –
The candidates on the waiting list will attend the counseling at NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh on the dates & times to be announced on the day of 1st counseling / to be notified on the PGI website after 1st counseling. The seats, if available, shall be offered to the candidates on merit. No separate correspondence shall be made.
Joining time –
1. Selected candidates must join their respective courses on the date(s) intimated to them at the time of selection or communicated to them in the admission letter. No extension in joining shall be granted.
2. The selection of those candidates who fail to join by the stipulated date shall automatically stand canceled, and no correspondence shall be entertained.
3. The Institute takes no responsibility for intimating the cancellation of seats.
4. The joining of BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) shall be accepted only along with relieving certificate from their employer (for in-service candidates). No request for an extension in joining shall be entertained.
Medical examination –
Medical fitness will be a pre-condition for registration for all candidates. The candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board constituted by the Institute to determine their medical fitness. Candidates are required to complete the Medical examination process within 2 weeks of their joining, failing which their candidature will be canceled.

Penalty - The candidate who discontinues the course after the last counseling shall have to pay a penalty amount of Rs.25000.
Course fees and hostel charges, once deposited, will not be refunded. The security deposit of the candidates, who will leave the course midway after the last counseling, will also be forfeited. Hostel security of other students will be refunded on completion of the full course & vacation of the hostel, after deduction of dues, if any.

Candidates offered admission during counseling must deposit the course fee as a demand draft/banker’s cheque in favor of the Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, payable at Chandigarh or any other mode of deposit decided by the Institute. Candidates are to bring a demand draft/banker’s cheque or proof of deposit on the day of counseling, deposit it on the same date, and get the seat confirmed. Those who are not selected may encash their demand draft/banker’s cheque later. The details of the fee are as under –
1. BSc Nursing (Post Basic) - Rs.850/- on account of course fee & Rs.5000/- on account of security
2. BSc Nursing (4 Years) - Rs.835/- on account of the course fee & Rs.5000/- on account of security
