Odisha Govt approves BSc and MSc Osteopathy Courses
Bhubaneswar: Bringing good news to the students willing to pursue Osteopathy Courses, the Health and Family Welfare Department of Odisha has given its recognition for BSc and MSc Osteopathy courses,
Issuing a notification in this regard, the State Health Department has included these courses under the State Council for Allied Medical Sciences, operative under the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET).
“After careful examination, the State Government has approved the inclusion of the “BSc and MSc Osteopathy Course” under the State Council for Allied Medical Sciences functioning under DMET, Odisha and the candidates passing out from such courses from the state will be allowed to register their qualifications in the said Council of the State,” stated the notice.
At present, more than 100 students are enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate Osteopathy programs at Sri Sri University, Bidyadharpyr, Cuttack. The BSc Osteopathy course was commenced by the University following the standards proposed by the World Health Organization in their ‘Benchmarks for Training in Osteopathy’ document.

Currently, the University offers two Programs including a four-year Bachelor's Degree Program called BSc Osteopathy and a two-years Master Degree Program called MSc Osteopathy. After completing these courses, the students are required to get themselves registered under an appropriate council.
As per the latest media report by Ommcomnews, now the State has granted recognition to the BSc and MSc Osteopathy courses by including them under the State Council for Allied Medical Sciences under the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET).
Issuing a notification in this regard, the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department has further announced that the council will determine the fees for registration or renewal of such qualifications at par with other courses.
