Bhubaneswar: Odisha University of Medical Science would be set up in the state very soon, Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das told the state Assembly on Monday.

Replying to a question of Prafulla Samal (BJD), the Minister said the government has passed a law in July 2021 and started preliminary work for setting up the University.

Das said former Dean of SCB Medical College and Hospital Prof D Hota has been appointed as the OSD of the proposed University.

Other officers have also been appointed and a temporary office has been opened in Bhubaneswar to look into the setting up of the University, the minister said.

The Odisha Health and Family welfare department has sanctioned Rs 2.48 crore out of the fund lying with the DMET for the development of the University, he said.
