One Nation, One Shift! Doctors' Demand for Single-Shift NEET PG 2025 Intensifies
NEET PG 2025
New Delhi: Demands for a single-shift NEET PG 2025 are escalating further, as doctors push for "One Nation, One Shift" to ensure fairness and transparency.
Pointing out that the NEET UG entrance examination is held for 25 lakh students, who appear in one exam in a single shift, RTI activist Dr. Vivek Pandey has questioned why the same is not possible for the NEET Postgraduate exam as well.
Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Pandey raised the demands for #OneNationOneExam and mentioned, "Normalization Kills Fairness If 25 lakh NEET UG students can give 1 exam in 1 session, why not NEET PG ? No transparency, no answer key, 2 shifts = UNFAIR We demand #OneNationOneExam @JPNadda@MoHFW_INDIA."
"I strongly support the demand for a single-shift NEET PG 2025 examination, as it ensures fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all aspirants. The government's decision to implement multiple shifts is deeply flawed and risks compromising the integrity of this critical exam. It introduces unnecessary variables like varying difficulty levels and logistical disparities, which can unfairly impact candidates' futures. The authorities' persistent disregard for students' concerns reflects a lack of accountability and sensitivity toward the medical community's aspirations. I urge the government to reconsider this poorly thought-out policy and restore a single-shift exam to uphold justice and meritocracy," Dr. Pandey told Medical Dialogues.

Previously, Dr. Pandey had written to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), urging it to reconsider its decision to hold the exam in multiple shifts.
The National President of the United Doctors' Front (UDF), Dr. Lakshya Mittal, has also stressed that NEET PG 2025 should be conducted in a single shift. Highlighting the demand for "One Nation, One Shift", Dr Mittal opined that NEET PG 2025 must be conducted in a single shift to ensure fairness, transparency, and trust.
"One Nation, One Shift! Aspirants’ voices are loud and clear — #NEETPG2025 must be conducted in a single shift to ensure fairness, transparency, and trust. United Doctors Front (UDF) has once again raised this demand to the Union Health Ministry, standing firmly with the future healers of India. Let’s unite for a system that values merit and justice!" Dr. Mittal's X post read.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a recent public survey conducted on the social media platform by UDF revealed that more than 2,513 NEET-PG aspirants anticipated, and a remarkable 96% of respondents demanded that the examination be conducted in a single shift to ensure fairness, transparency, and uniform evaluation. Raising this demand, UDF recently urged the Union Health Minister, Shri J.P. Nadda to reconsider the decision to conduct the PG medical entrance test in two shifts.
Previously, raising concerns about the multiple-shift exam format for NEET PG, UDF had highlighted the issues if normalisation discrepancies, legal complexities, and loss of candidate confidence.
Doctors across the country have been upset over the conduct of the upcoming NEET PG 2025 exam after the NBEMS announced that it would be held in two shifts on June 15, 2025. While the first shift is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the second shift is scheduled from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
The doctors expressed their concerns primarily over the normalization process. Even though the normalization formula was introduced for NEET PG 2024 to adjust the scores across different exam shifts to ensure fairness, critics have argued that the process is flawed.
A few candidates who appeared in the second shift of the NEET PG 2024 exam had questioned the normalization formula adopted by NBEMS and further claimed that the board had scammed them in the name of a competitive exam. They pointed out that the Shift 2 paper was tougher compared to Shift 1 and further termed the process of calculating scores as debatable. These concerns were also raised before the Supreme Court, where the aspirants prayed for transparency in the NEET PG 2024 exam.
Recently, a poll conducted by Shiksha.com revealed that when asked about their opinions on the two-shift NEET PG 2025 examination, 89% of the of the respondents in the poll opposed the idea. While 89% of respondents said "No" to the NEET PG exam in two shifts, 9% respondents supported the idea and the remaining 2% were undecided.
Despite the protests and demands from the aspirants to hold the upcoming PG entrance test in a single shift, NBEMS has not yet announced any changes in its plans of holding the exam in double shifts. Meanwhile, the plea alleging lack of transparency in NEET PG 2024 exam is still pending before the Supreme Court.
