Bengaluru: Taking cognizance of the concerns and problems of MBBS students, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has postponed the dates for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) examinations by 10 more days.

Citing insufficient time for preparation, the students had requested the authorities for postponing the examination so that they could get some more time to prepare for the exam.

Apart from this, the students were requesting for some more time for payment of examination fees, the deadline for which had been fixed as January 16.

The demands from students seeking more preparation time was made since the University published the results of reevaluation exams on January 14, 2023, whereas the date for final examinations was scheduled from January 23.

Earlier, referring to the problems of the students, the State Secretary of National Students' Union of India (NSUI), and the in-charge of RGUHS, Sanjay Raj had written to the Registrar of RGUHS.

In a letter dated 16.01.2023, he had mentioned, "The reevaluation results were announced on 14th January, 2023 and the final examination is scheduled to start from 23rd January 2023.  This gives the students a very narrow window of only week to prepare and revise for all the subjects."

"... it is humanly impossible to prepare and revise for all the subjects in such a short span of time. This will impact mental health of the students and will also affect their future career prospects adversely," he had further mentioned in the letter.

Pointing out the difficulties faced by the students to pay the examination fees within deadline, he had also stated, "It may also be noted that the last date to pay examination fees is on 16.01.2023 i.e. today. A provision must be created for all the students to pay the examination fees in a week's time without any fine being levied upon them."

"Therefore, in the light of the above you are requested to postpone the examination at least by 10 days so that students have sufficient time to prepare well and do well in the examination," the letter had added.

Bangalore Mirror adds that after the students requested the register and submitted their demands, the authorities finally agreed to the requests of the students and postponed the MBBS examination by 10 more days.
