The pregnant woman, identified as Chanchal Tiwari of Khajurikalan was admitted to JP Hospital on Saturday. The child had died before delivery. It was alleged that the family members urged the doctors to perform a surgery to save the woman, but the doctors reportedly did not pay heed to it. The woman eventually died.
The wife was taken to the hospital when she began getting pain, following which the doctor assured them that everything was fine and that medicines have been given. However, the doctors allegedly paid no attention when the woman developed pain and no delivery occurred, despite the family members urging them to go for surgery, reports Granthshala.
The family members of the woman began protesting and there was a lot of commotion inside the hospital for nearly an hour, and the police were called in to intervene. The husband of the woman reportedly fainted. The relatives of the woman demanded the police register a case against the doctor.
Further, a committee was set up by the Civil Surgeon Dr Rakesh Shrivastava to investigate the incident, reports the Free Press Journal. The committee is required to complete its probe and submit the report within 24 hours according to which further action would be taken, said the superintendent.
It is speculated that the child died in the womb of the woman, due to which the woman might have died later. This could have been avoided if the doctors had operated on Saturday itself, reports the Granthshala.
