Denied Treatment by Multiple Hospitals: 8-month-old baby dies after swallowing balloon
Kotwali: In a tragic incident, an 8-month-old baby boy lost his life due to prolonged oxygen deprivation after accidentally swallowing a balloon in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri. The family sought treatment at multiple hospitals before the infant was finally referred to Shivpuri Medical College.
As per a Free Press Journal news report, the child was struggling to breathe as the balloon got stuck in his windpipe, causing him to choke. Due to this, the child was out of oxygen for a long time.

The dean of the medical college alleged that the baby could have survived with timely treatment from the doctors. However, the family was reportedly turned away by multiple hospitals and had to rush from one facility to another. By the time a doctor finally removed the balloon from the child’s windpipe, it was already too late.
According to the family, the child was playing when he suddenly began struggling to breathe. Suspecting he had swallowed something, his parents rushed him to a nearby private hospital. However, the doctors there reportedly declined to treat the child and advised the family to take him some another hospital, FPJ reports.
Desperate and panicked, the family then took the child to another private hospital, but they were again turned away. Noticing the child's trouble, they rushed to the government medical college in Shivpuri, where doctors removed the balloon stuck in the child's throat. Despite their efforts, the child could not be saved.
Dr. D. Paramhans, Dean of the Medical College, told ETV Bharat, "As soon as the child came to our medical college, our team provided proper treatment. The balloon was also taken out, but the child could not be saved. The family brought the child to us late. If they had come earlier, we could have saved the child's life."
