Doctor couple injured, 3 killed after car rams SUV on Uttar Pradesh highway
Pilibhit: In a shocking incident, three persons, including a minor boy died in a car accident on Sunday night while nine others sustained injuries after their car was hit by a Mercedes Benz luxury car that belonged to a doctor couple.
The car that was hit in the accident near Kajri Niranjanpur village on NH-730 was an SUV carrying 11 members of the same family and their driver, reports TOI.
The Mercedes car was driven by a driver while the doctor couple was sitting in the back seat who had also suffered minor injuries due to the head-on collision between an SUV and the Mercedes.
According to the police, the doctor couple has been identified to be the owner of a private hospital in Kheri.
The accident took place on Sunday night when the speeding Mercedes Benz car overtook a commercial vehicle and rammed into an Innova car that was coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the collision caused a major accident that crumpled the car completely.
After the accident, the victims were taken out from the damaged car and was taken to a community health centre in Shahjahanpur district, where the doctor declared the 55-year-old Bhagwan Das, 3-year-old Lakshya and 46-year-old Innova driver Dharmendra brought dead.
CO of Puranpur Circle, Sunil Dutt, informed the daily, "The collision was so intense that we had to use a crane to separate the mangled remains of the two vehicles. Three others, who were critical, have been referred to a higher medical facility in Bareilly, where they are currently undergoing treatment."
A complaint was filed by the victim's family, following which an FIR was registered on Monday against the 'unnamed' Mercedes driver under IPC sections 304 A (causing the death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act), 338 (causing grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life), 279 (rash driving on a public way) and 427 (committing mischief and thereby causing loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards).
Meanwhile, the police have sent the bodies for postmortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
