10 doctors served show-cause notices after surprise inspection in Gurez
Gurez: Show-cause notices have been issued to 10 doctors after they were allegedly found absent from duty during a surprise inspection conducted in Gurez on September 10.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, issued the notices after an inspection he conducted with Gurez MLA Nazir Gurezi.

According to the notices, the doctors were allegedly found unauthorisedly absent from duty. The notices also stated that such absence was reportedly habitual and amounted to dereliction of duty, potentially causing inconvenience to the public and affecting patient care.
The doctors have been asked to submit their written explanations within two days and explain why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them under the relevant service rules, reports the Kasimir Horizon.
The SDM has marked the matter as “most urgent”, reflecting the seriousness with which the administration has viewed the alleged absence, reports KNS.
The SDM has forwarded the communication to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora and Block Medical Officer Gurez for information and necessary action.
The Block Medical Officer, Gurez, has also been directed not to prepare the salary bills of the concerned doctors until further orders. The Treasury Officer, Gurez, has similarly been instructed not to process or entertain their salary bills.
The action is expected to strengthen attendance monitoring and accountability among healthcare staff in the remote Gurez subdivision and help ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for residents.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that two medical colleges in the Union Territory recently issued show-cause notices to the protesting MBBS interns, who were on strike demanding a stipend hike. These notices were issued by SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Srinagar, and Government Medical College, Anantnag. The medical college authorities asked the intern doctors to explain within 24 hours why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.
