12 Specialist doctors appointed at Doon and Rudrapur Govt Medical Colleges

Dehradun: The appointment of twelve specialist doctors at Government Doon Medical College and Pt Ramsumer Shukla Government Medical College, Rudrapur, has been approved by the Uttarakhand State Government, aiming to address faculty shortages, enhance medical education and training, and improve clinical and research services in the state-run institutions.  

Under the Department of Medical Education, the state government has been actively recruiting specialist doctors in government medical colleges across the state to ensure high-quality education and advanced training for medical students. A Selection Committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University, conducted walk-in interviews to select suitable candidates.

Following the selection process, eight specialists have been appointed to the Government Doon Medical College, while four specialists have been posted at Rudrapur Medical College.

The interview committee has selected Dr. Brajendra Nath Tripathi for the post of Professor in the Department of Radio Diagnosis at Doon Medical College, while Dr. Manish Kumar for the Department of Microbiology, Dr. Sanobar Shamim for the Blood Bank, Dr. Mayank Singhal for Orthopaedics, Dr. Sara Guleria for Antenatal Child Care, Dr. Ruchi Karnataka for Maternity Child Health Care, Dr. Pooja Sangole for Anaesthesia and Dr. Ishita Bahukhandi have been selected for the post of Assistant Professor. Similarly, at Rudrapur Medical College, Dr. Prerna Chhabra for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Lalit Singh Pokhariya for ENT, Dr. Mayuri Srivastava for Microbiology, and Dr. Chirag Saini for the Department of Dermatology have been selected for the post of Assistant Professor, reports ETV Bharat.

All the selected doctors have been appointed on a contractual basis for a period of three years or until regular appointments are made, whichever is earlier. The deployment of these specialists is expected to significantly improve academic activities, research initiatives, and clinical services, benefiting both medical students and patients.

Speaking to Garhwal Post, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of Medical Health and Medical Education, Government of Uttarakhand, said, “Appointments of a dozen more specialist doctors have been made in Government Doon Medical College and Rudrapur Medical College. The appointment of faculty members will not only provide high-quality education to medical students but will also enhance the quality of research and clinical services in the colleges.”
