Apart from recruiting doctors, 140 nurses with midwifery training will soon be employed at government maternity hospitals in the state. In the first phase, the government will recruit 1000 doctors in PHCs in the next ten days.
Hyderabad: In measures aimed at ensuring the availability of doctors for quality treatments of patients, a total of 2140 doctors will be recruited in the upcoming weeks in Primary Heath Centres, and government specialty teaching hospitals, said Health Minister T Harish Rao.
Apart from recruiting doctors, 140 nurses with midwifery training will soon be employed at government maternity hospitals in the state. In the first phase, the government will recruit 1000 doctors in PHCs in the next ten days. Following a recruitment notice will be released to fill up 1140 posts of assistant professors in all the teaching hospitals.
The announcement was made while Rao was speaking at a 'Hospital Infection, Prevention and Control Training Program' at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) about a series of initiatives to check Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) in government hospitals across the state.

Rao said, "State government has launched an equipment management policy at Rs. 20 crores. We are modernizing morgues and purchasing 56 premium ultrasound machines at the cost of Rs. 30 crores. While the state government does its utmost to provide modernized and accessible facilities, the standard of healthcare partly depends on caregivers. Our responsibility is to offer the impoverished in Telangana's rural and urban areas access to high-quality healthcare facilities", ABP reports.
The government launched a three-tier system to control the infection. A special committee comprised of the hospital administrator and the head of the microbiology division will now appear once per week in each tertiary hospital. The teaching hospital will hire a senior physician and a staff nurse to keep track of the frequency of hospital infections.
"Operation theatres, dialysis wards, delivery rooms, and ICU in hospitals are prime locations for the spread of infections among patients. Initially, training on infection control in hospitals will be given to caregivers in teaching hospitals before broadening the initiatives to District and Area Hospitals and PHCs," added Rao.
