23-year-old MBBS intern at GMCH Gondia ends life
Nagpur: In an unfortunate incident, a 23-year-old trainee doctor at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Gondia allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his hostel room on Monday.
While investigating the case, the police found that no suicide note was left behind by the doctor which indicates that the reason behind the extreme step remains unknown until further probe into the case.
The deceased was a native of Amravati district who was the son of a farmer. He was staying at the hostel of the college.
On September 3, the doctor was usual in his routine. He completed his class in the morning and returned to his room. However, at night, he was alone in his room while his roommates went off to do their night duty at the college.

Taking advantage of the situation, he decided to end his life and hanged himself from the ceiling. The next day on Monday morning, his colleagues became worried and called him multiple times but to no avail. He was supposed to report for duty that day, but he didn't arrive, so his colleagues went to his room to check on him, reports NT.
When the colleagues arrived, they were shocked to discover the unfortunate site of the doctor. They immediately alerted the college authorities and informed the police.
The police after arriving at the spot started questioning the college authorities about the doctor. However, they were unable to explain why the doctor committed suicide.
Following this, the police registered an FIR of accidental death. An investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the incident.
His sudden demise came as a shock to his family members, friends and colleagues when informed by the police.
After conducting a post-mortem, his mortal remains were brought to Chandur Railway on Tuesday morning where his family members performed his last riot and cremated his body.
