93 Doctors appointed at Karnal Government Hospitals

There are currently 181 posts of doctors lying vacant at various government hospitals in the district. Only 83 are filled out of the total 264 sanctioned posts. After these 93 doctors join duty, 88 would remain vacant.

Karnal: The government has allotted 93 medical officers (MOs) to the government-run hospitals in the districts which have been affected by the shortage of doctors for the last several months. The present move is aimed at overcoming the shortage. 

A list of 847 newly recruited doctors was released on August 12, who were given 15 days to join at the designated stations. Out of them, 93 doctors have been allotted to Karnal district.

Out of the 93, 37 doctors have registered with the Civil Surgeon's office till Tuesday afternoon and 11 of them have submitted their medical fitness certificates. Nilokheri subdivision hospital has been allotted 24 doctors, followed by 23 in Assandh, 18 in District Civil Hospital, and 5 in Nigdhu CHC. Four doctors each would be posted at Indri subdivision hospital, Gharaunda subdivision hospital, and Kunjpura CHC; three doctors each would be posted at Ballah CHC, Sambhali CHC, and Taraori CHC; and two doctors would be posted at the Padha CHC reports the Tribune India.

As per sources, the shortage of doctors could be overcome to a great extent if these doctors joined duty. There are currently 181 posts of doctors lying vacant at various government hospitals in the district. Only 83 are filled out of the total 264 sanctioned posts. After these 93 doctors join duty, 88 would remain vacant. 

Stating that the recruitment of new doctors would help in providing better health facilities, Dr. Yogesh Sharma, Civil Surgeon told Tribune India, "We are hopeful these doctors will join during the given time." 

The District Civil Hospital has a requirement of 24 doctors, and it has got 18 under the new list. The Nilokehri Government Hospital requires 38 doctors but has got only 24. The 100-bed subdivisional hospital at Assandh has 42 sanctioned posts, but it is dependent on one doctor. 

The Taraori CHC has been given three doctors against the requirement of 5 doctors, whereas Nigdhu CHC was allotted five doctors against the requirement of seven. Padha got two against the requirement of six, Gharaunda got four against the requirement of five, Indri got four against the requirement of six, and Kunjpura got four against the requirement of five.
