Amravati BAMS doctor found dead at home, family suspects medicine overdose

Amravati: In an unfortunate incident, a 22-year-old BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctor was found dead at his residence in Amravati, with his family suspecting that a possible medicine overdose may have contributed to his death.

Initial information suggests that the young doctor had been self-medicating with certain medicines in an attempt to lighten his complexion, according to his family.

The deceased had completed his BAMS degree from Nashik and was working as an intern at a hospital in Amravati. According to his family, he had dinner with them on the night before the incident and later went to his room to sleep.

The following morning, when he did not come out of his room for a considerable time, family members opened the door and found him unresponsive. He was reportedly found lying face down, with blood noticed around his eyes. 

According to the Daily, the doctor had a history of epilepsy since childhood. His family alleged that he had been taking medicines on his own, including certain medicines that he reportedly used in an attempt to lighten his complexion. They suspect that excessive use or an overdose of these medicines may have contributed to his death.

Police reached the residence after being informed and took the body for examination. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the death have not yet been conclusively established. 

Meanwhile, the post-mortem report is being examined for possible asphyxiation, heart attack or other causes of death. The exact cause of death will be clear only after the viscera report comes. An accidental death (ADR) has been registered at Valgaon police station on the complaint of the parents. The police are investigating the incident further, reports Saam TV.
