He was caught red-handed by the PCPNDT (Pre-Conception Pre-Natal Diagnostic Technique) team while taking money from a woman who had been sent to him as a decoy customer.
During questioning, he admitted that he had been running this illegal racket for 22 years. He was first caught in 2007 but got bail. Since then, he has been arrested several times but continued the crime each time by using different identities. This arrest marks the eighth time he has been caught.

According to Bhaskar news report, He even claimed that he earns nearly Rs 1 crore through this racket and can easily get bail by paying Rs 50 lakh. He told officials, “No one stays in jail forever. I go there to rest.”
He revealed that he came to Rajasthan in 1987 and first worked as a gardener in a private hospital in Khetri. While maintaining the premises, he started spending time around the hospital’s lab and sonography room. Slowly, he learned how to operate the machines and understand the tests.
In 1995, he opened his own private lab in Khetri with the help of a female doctor. Within a few years, he also began doing sonography himself and started pretending to be a doctor. By 2000, he even opened a paramedical institute and began selling fake diplomas and certificates to local youth.
He said he charged Rs 50,000 for identifying a male fetus and Rs 30,000 for a female fetus. “If it were a girl, I would give a Rs 20,000 discount,” he told interrogators.
To catch him this time, the PCPNDT team planned a trap after getting information about a gang active along the Haryana border. The Narnaul PCPNDT team used a 5-month pregnant woman as a dummy patient.
According to media reports, an agent named Satyendra from Pacheri arranged the deal for Rs 50,000 and took the woman to a house in Badau village of Khetri. There, Avdhesh used a portable sonography machine and said she was carrying a girl. After taking Rs 30,000 in cash, he was caught by the PCPNDT and police team waiting outside.
Investigators found that he had imported a portable sonography machine from Nepal and kept it hidden in his car. He conducted tests secretly at homes, roadside dhabas, or rented rooms to escape detection. His agents worked across Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, bringing in customers and keeping the operation secret. He used different names like Dr A.P. Pandey and Dr Awadesh Kumar to avoid being tracked. His network involves hundreds of agents, many of whom are still at large.
PCPNDT officials told Bhaskar, "This is the eighth case filed against him in Rajasthan. The Jhunjhunu health department is now coordinating with authorities in other states to trace his network and identify his agents. His Nepal-imported machine and other equipment have been seized."
