Ayurvedic doctor held for alleged rape under pretext of marriage

Malkangiri: An Ayurveda practitioner in the Malkangiri district of Odisha has been arrested on charges of raping a woman under the false promise of marriage. The arrest followed a complaint from the victim, who accused the doctor of luring her into an intimate relationship by assuring her of marriage.

The victim approached the local police, where a case was registered against the doctor. Following her complaint, a police team led by Malkangiri’s IIC Rigan Kindo swiftly initiated an investigation. Their efforts led to the doctor being tracked down in Sambalpur, where he was arrested and brought back to Malkangiri.

According to the police complaint, the doctor, who had been practising Ayurveda in the local area, began a romantic relationship with a young woman from the same district. Over the course of their relationship, he assured her that they would marry. However, after gaining her trust and engaging in physical intimacy, the doctor reportedly moved back to his native village and married someone else.

As per the recent media report by Odisha TV, he was produced in court today, as the legal process unfolds to determine the veracity of the charges laid against him.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a shocking incident, Ghaziabad Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on charges of raping a 32-year-old doctor, who runs a clinic in a colony in Teela More police station. The accused has been identified as Mintoo alias Sunil (42) who allegedly sexually, and financially exploited the doctor and made false promises of marriage to her. Shalimar Garden ACP Siddhartha Gautam said that Sunil had visited the woman’s clinic two years ago and befriended her.
