Partapur: Another incident of violence against medical professionals has emerged from Partapur government hospital in Rajasthan, where BJP MLA Kailash Meena is accused of verbally abusing a doctor, slapping a nursing officer, and misbehaving with hospital staff.

According to a local media report, Meena allegedly abused the doctor after expressing displeasure over the doctor's attire at the hospital. While he denied any verbal or physical assault, the hospital staff claimed that the MLA not only abused the doctor but also slapped the nursing officer.

The altercation erupted when the MLA visited the hospital to get his grandson treated and saw a doctor roaming around in half-pants. Displeased with the doctor's attire, Meena confronted him, which led to a dispute during which he allegedly abused the doctor. When the nursing officer intervened, Meena reportedly slapped him as well.

Following the incident, the hospital staff staged a protest, condemning the MLA's misconduct and demanding action against him after the incident sparked outrage among the hospital staff.

However, Meena’s office denied the allegations, stating that the MLA did not physically assault anyone. According to his office, he only questioned the doctor’s attire and did not engage in any form of violence. Furthermore, Meena claimed that the doctor misbehaved in response, and during the altercation, the nursing officer intervened, leading to further escalation.

Medical Dialogues learned about the incident after Dr. Lakshya Mittal, National President of the United Doctors' Front (UDF), brought attention to the alleged violence on the social media platform 'X'.

Tagging the MLA in his post, Dr Mittal condemned the incident, describing it as "inhumane." He wrote, "Such inhumane behaviour towards healthcare workers by a public representative is extremely shameful. We strongly denounce MLA Kailash's act of abusing the doctor and slapping the nursing officer."

Questioning the government's stance on violence against medical professionals, Dr. Mittal asked, "Will healthcare workers now have to fight for justice as well, when the government’s own legislators are treating them in this manner?"

He further demanded immediate and strict action from the government, asserting that there must be no compromise on the dignity and safety of healthcare workers.
