Chaos at Doon Medical College emergency ward as mob assaults doctors and staff

Angered by the assault, the doctors staged a short protest and temporarily halted emergency services, demanding better safety and security. However, the services were soon resumed.

As per the TOI news report, the incident occurred late Saturday night when a man identified as Shankey Kukreja arrived at the hospital with around 20–25 men. They allegedly assaulted a patient inside the emergency ward. When doctors attempted to stop them, they were also attacked. Security guards and ward boys were also assaulted when they reached the spot after hearing the commotion. The accused later fled the scene in a car and four two-wheelers.

Following the attack, the emergency medical officer (EMO) Samridhi Raiwani filed a complaint at the police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the accused men. 

ASI Rajesh Shah, who is investigating the case, said, "The exact reason behind the violence was not yet clear, though initial inputs pointed to personal animosity. A case has been registered under the BNS and the Uttarakhand Medicare Service Persons & Institutions (Prevention of Violence & Damage to Property) Act on charges including criminal assault and criminal intimidation. Six security guards and four ward boys were assaulted."

Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify and trace all those involved.
