Violence Allegation Inside Noida Hospital Sparks Probe

Noida: In a shocking incident at the emergency ward of the government-run Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (PGICH) hospital in Noida, a senior woman doctor has accused her junior colleague of physically assaulting her during duty hours, raising serious concerns about workplace safety within medical institutions.

According to news reports, the incident took place around 2 a.m. on Friday at the Child PGI Hospital in Sector 30. A complaint filed at the Sector 20 police station stated that a senior physician alleged that an argument with a junior doctor escalated into a violent confrontation while attending to a patient.

The senior doctor alleged that the junior doctor lost his temper, repeatedly slapped her, used abusive language, and even issued death threats, causing both physical injuries and significant mental trauma.

The incident is a topic of discussion. Many doctors say that such an incident in a sensitive location like the hospital is extremely worrying. Speaking to TOI, an officer confirmed that an FIR was registered under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS, and that statements from both parties are being recorded. "We began the investigation and are verifying the allegations with the help of CCTV footage and other evidence. Necessary legal action will be taken after the inquiry is completed," he said.

Meanwhile, the hospital administration has constituted an independent inquiry panel to look into the matter.

A.K. Singh, the hospital’s director, said, "The incident occurred when both doctors were on night duty in the emergency ward of the hospital. While the senior doctor has been posted here for a long time, the junior doctor joined only a few months ago. An internal investigation team has been constituted at the hospital, and CCTV footage is being reviewed. Staff members who were present at the time of the incident, as well as colleagues of both doctors, are being questioned. A report will be prepared soon, after which further action will be decided," reports TOI.
